Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Retiring email

Is it considered a good practice to send a farewell email to a list of IBM colleagues. I am retiring soon. There were some people I really will miss.

I posted a message on appropriate Slack channels when I retired -- That obviates the need for compiling an email distribution list. I also recommend letting your colleagues know that they can find you on LinkedIn, if they want to contact you after you depart. Like you said, still some great folks at IBM with whom I'd like to stay in touch.

I always appreciated receiving those notes. Not the fact that the person was leaving, but the sender would include email address or LinkedIn. I didn’t send such a note and I wished I had done that.

YES, I kept a copy of all the responses I received.

I think it is, and its an opportunity to give them your private email and/or phone if you want to keep in touch.
