Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Is 3/30 really it?

So much chatter last week about this Thursday, but have seen or heard anything to suggest the chatter last week holds water. A little over a day away... you think we would hear more. Leadership laughs when you suggest it, so maybe they know something or maybe they don't? I guess we'll see...

Management is working to reduce the total number of employees to below 100k by 6/30. And the plan may come out in next couple of weeks.

Multiple layoffs in supply chain yesterday. My director had a call with our team this morning to tell us that there had been a RIF impacting our group and that folks who were affected were notified yesterday. I also confirmed with a colleague today that another director in SC did the same, so seems like this was the case across the org.

@nja+1lS4xxuM VGS. Craig made it no secret that it would eventually come. When you hear words like consolidation, duplication, redundancy, transformation, you know where things are headed. Not sure exactly when, but I'm pretty sure it will be this year.

If you are asked to meet for an emergency meeting, you will get bad news.

GnT. Gin and tonic. They should get rid of all the Bombay gin and only use American gin in their GnT

IT has always been fuel for RIFFs for many many years. It time for all the others.... no one is immune anymore.

@nja+1lS4xxuM - completely agree. They are currently executing small-scale layoffs throughout the organization, not just within the IT department. It is possible that after the Q1 results are released in April, a comprehensive plan, which also involves the IT department, will be published

I like how 'the big one is still in the planning' was just left out there....

Targeted for sure, but small. The big one's still in the planning.

My manager didn't come right out and say it but made it pretty clear that a person on our team would be notified this thursday. We're in VGS.

It does not appear to be a mass layoff —- however like they do every month they strategically eliminate / pick and choose those targeted. I know of two people who were informed a month ago- both managers - who are off payroll this Friday. I’m sure there are more. This will continue especially if our quarterly results are poor. In this business environment they are right sizing the business. It’s Corporate America. We are all disposable.

No clue but this site definitely tipped people off on the layoffs in the fall so there's some credence to some of the folks and chatter here for what it's worth
