What do layoffs look like in call centers? Are you notified by the top brass, an email? What kind of timeline, severance does that look like?

LOL at the oblivious & jealous manager who wrote: "You will be left in place until you are..." who obviously knows nothing other than their own reasoning and thoughts which have a sum total of less than zero significance in reality. All of the golden boys and girls who who went way above and beyond kissing a$$ are now realizing that they got fck'd by going into management and they're naturally envious when they see their old co-worker union friends getting the very nice termination package per contract. Many are classy and truly happy for us while some are spiteful like the pathetic little human who wrote that trash talk. Haha...
It all depends on the contract the center is under.

You will be left in place until you are the one working weekends. Then when you decide you are disgruntled about be taken advantage of you will try to play the game.
The game will get you fired and you will lose your benefits. No need to pay you weeks of severance.

My cousin got a job at a new day care center. Her first day she spanked a toddler. Needless to say, she was walked out to the parking lot and told never to return. Things could be worse for you...just sayin.

It's not pretty. Two guys that look alot like Butterbean come to your desk. They explain that your career at at&t is over. They inform you that you can walk peacefully to the exit door or they will assist you! They don't give you time to take any souvenirs such as your stapler or tape dispenser. Once you are outside the complex, you check your access card only to find out you've been cancelled.
Two guys came, physically picked me up, took me outside and tossed me down onto a flight of concrete steps. Then a 3rd guy came with a box and hurled the contents of my former desk down the steps after me.
They cancel your badges so you can't come in. Then security calls your manager to come outside, then your manager tells you the news.
When your time comes, your manager will read a canned letter to you verbatim and ask if you have questions. Then you'll get inundated with letters, documents etc and will be given your last date on the payroll. Cold, quick and miserable. I hope you can avoid it.
If you are union and asking about severance, you need to find your union book/contract! It's all spelled out for you in there.
If you are union, they will notify your union of their intention to surplus. That usually will take place aprx 30 days BEFORE the official time clock... during that time they also canvas for sipp and sometimes vsipp... there is also an official meeting with the people expected to be affected with the surplus, mgt , and union representation. They then read an official notification letter during that meeting. Depending on the region of your contract, your surplus steps begin. Some get to test , to stay on payroll even after your surplus window is up.
