Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Any point investing efforts here?

I was very happy when I got the job here and at the beginning I gave my best. Now I often wonder whether it is worth investing efforts here at all. I'm almost ready to give up but maybe there is someone who still thinks it's worth it?

New president of company. Starts in June. I bet he’ll be more ruthless than the last guy. How do you get stock to go up? I see a lot of plant closures coming and selling off a whole bunch divisions.

If you don’t think it could ever happen in your state, you’re totally wrong. High buck regions, high state, taxes, no states with winter. Results in no heating bills, no snow removal, no more six months of heating bills, just have to pay air conditioning, no high local taxes, and a warm state. Equals no more cost of repairing parking lot due to damage of salt being applied during winter storms. Less repainting of lines on parking lot due to snow removal. The list goes on.

Bottom line. Pay less to employees. Less taxes, and removing a company from a place requires a lot of bills for doing business in a cold climate. Which will result in huge profits.

My advice:
For the most part, the poor management practices and working conditions that evoke all of the negativity on this web site are real. The anger, worry, or disappointment they routinely spawn, fully justified.

But remember this. However you respond to these conditions, you must still be able to look yourself in the mirror.

Being passive aggressive and purposefully doing a half-a@@ed job (a coping strategy routinely promoted on this site) in the misguided attempt to somehow "get even" with Honeywell is ridiculous. Honeywell is a corporation, not a person. It's a massive, soul-less, machine. It doesn't care.

What this strategy DOES do is diminish, corrode, and rot YOU--your work ethic, integrity, and potential for greatness. For your sake, don't do it. Don't defile yourself. Don't allow the deficiencies of "management" goons to poison what makes you a star.

There are still niches of joy and fulfillment in Honeywell, admittedly too few and far between, but they exist. Try to find one of those projects and connect to it. Believe me, those of us who still come in every day and try to do our best always welcome with open arms anyone who still gives a sh@t.

Finally, if you can't find that joy in your sphere of contact or influence, then leave... not to punish Honeywell but to realize your full worth and potential.

Same. I came in as an optimistic, grateful futureshaper (or whatever the heck I'm supposed to call myself). I was giving my best, working more hours than I needed to, doing everything I can to go above and beyond. What did I get in return? No support, a lot of criticism, no appreciation, longer hours, a joke of a pay raise despite a decent performance review, and the most dysfunctional teams to work with. When I discussed with my manager some of my concerns (and I did so very professionally and courteously), the response was more or less "if you don't like it get out." I have never seen management styles this bad.

Take your vacations, let the company fund your job search, and find something else. Please don't waste your talent and youth if you are young. This job is not a good investment. It will drain your health and your joy. Some people who have been here for decades have advised me to get out within five minutes of meeting me. They know this is a sinking ship.

Two years then move. 4 if you can stay in school.
Move every few years from then on. Write papers. Present at conferences. Get your own business at 40. Sell that business at 50.

Honeywell is a garbage company. Forces new people to give them good reviews on glassdoor.

Honeywell employed many spectacularly under qualified l0sers in the last couple of years possibly because no one with integrity would go near us. I was reviewing new hires before I left, the small pool of desperate resumes was beyond a joke. If you are one of those cohort, then carry on riding the train and carry on the ar5e kissing and back stabbing until the track runs out (which will be fairly soon) as you might not get the same salary again.
If on the other hand you have any actual employable skills and an ounce of self worth.......well.....the answers pretty obvious ain't it.

No benefit long term at all. Come in, pretend to care about all this Honeywell happy horsesh1t, get trained and then start looking for a job in a company that values employees. To HON, you are just a necessary evil....a drag on the bottom line affecting the bonuses of the ALT and they treat us as such. Hard work is not rewarded, only riding coattails will net you results.

Come in, do as little as you can, go home and repeat.
