Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Not many good folks are left

The vast majority of people who are still hanging around at Verizon are just the ones who haven't been able to score a job at another company yet. It's like we're all just stuck here and waiting for something better to come along. It's frustrating to see all of the talented, hardworking people who used to be here have already moved on to bigger and better things, while the rest of us are just stuck in this never-ending cycle of mediocrity.

It’s worse than that. 91 SENIOR vice presidents!

How many regular VP’s it’s got to be hundreds.

Nope. Been here 25+ yrs, benefits and pay are good. Is there room for improvement? By a mile.

“ Atleast Verizon do not stop you from moving and trying new roles.”

Make sure you find out befofe you move into that new role at VZ if that is true in that group. I’ve had two supervisors actively block me from working with others or moving groups on more than one occasion.

I honestly love working for Verizon the minute we started working from home. There are no distractions from loud laughing, loud people making comments. Having to drive to and from work sucked. I am able to focus on my job 100% now. The insurance coverage is amazing. I was part of the 2/16 Rif announcement. The empty feeling in my stomach when they told us we would be gone by 3/17. Only applied for two positions and was blessed to get one. Sad that some fantastic workers were not rehired, but even more sad to see that some incompetent workers got rehired. Not sure who decides on who gets hired after the interview process, but maybe they should look at a persons accomplishments. Some may not interview well and turn out to be amazing workers and those that are great BullSh*ters interview great but lack at their work skills. The economy is going to tank mid to late mid year. I like stability and knowing that I will have a pay check every two weeks.
I pray lay off’s tomorrow are just rumors. I do not wish the feeling you get when you are told you will lose your job and are expected to continue working another 30 days on anyone.

Ditto. My last company in the tech arena was toxic for many and I was glad to leave with a severance check. Verizon way better but it does suck to spend a career wondering if you'll be on the next layoff list.

Grass is always greener on the other side. I moved to Verizon few years back and not even looking to move. I worked in a company with toxic culture where getting a promotion or changing a career trajectory was impossible. Atleast Verizon do not stop you from moving and trying new roles.
