I try not to worry too much ahead of time, but whenever someone mentions layoffs my anxiety is through the roof. I've been looking for a new job for months, but I haven't been able to land a better opportunity so far. That's why it surprises me that so many people are not worried at all, or at least say they don't care if they get laid off from here...

name the place and time...that's the difference.

I see some terribly rude comments here and just want the author of this to know that you are not alone in feeling this way and your feelings are completely valid. I have also had the same anxiety ever since the layoffs in February. The fear of the unknown is the worst. My only piece of advice is to start using your network to informally ask around about openings or potential opportunities.

Fancy talk, I pray you get laid off and are in the shoes of the 6500 who are in the middle of a down market and can’t take care of their family. Have some empathy douche

Let me tell ya , it is really really hard to get a job right now after being laid off by dell. Everyone is competing for remote jobs and alot of those jobs are not even real. A massive recession is coming
People talk tough, or they’re really just that jaded. But also know, a job isn’t your life. You WILL survive if you do get laid off. Work on your finances so that an income disruption isn’t disastrous (pay off debt, have savings).
