Finance Trying?

Open mike call with Fin VP. Listened to concerns from underlings wanting work-life balance by instituting no meetings after 3pm on Fridays, no more weekend work unless he specifically requests…could hear sigh of relief from everyone. Making other changes to be able to communicate directly to him anonymously. Also all work will come with assigned deadline so no more dropping everything to do immediately. Pretty good 1st step at trying to make change, I will give that. Only 4 years before retirement, would like this place to become enjoyable again during time that remains.

Finance was the group that got us in this mess!! The previous CFO put us in a $150 billion dollar hole and walks away with tens of millions!

Finance? You mean the AR and AP people that put credit holds on my customers so I cannot order circuits for them, because the other geniuses in billing can't bill a customer right to save their life. Nice to know I can't count on them to remove the holds on a Friday after 3 PM. In my next life, I am going to freelance as TEMS provider and target AT&T bills, and take a 50% cut on every penny I save the company. I'll make millions the first year and retire.

I’m sure this is being done to increase the employees survey score coming out in April.
I remember when Mcfresh said the same thing- no conf calls or meetings on Fridays. I still had conf calls and meetings on Fridays. Just because they say it doesn’t mean the work stops coming in.

If anyone should have a black eye on themselves it is Finance and Strategy. ATT has no roadmap and no vision. Buy for $1 incurring massive debt, sell for $.60, and bring on massive demoralizing cost cutting strategies to make up for the difference. Every move these executives make is to clean up their prior missteps further snowballs the employee mindset of executives can go fly a kite and we are just cashing checks and collecting benefits. Verizon and TMobile are so out in front of ATT with their positioning and moves that I have zero respect for ATT Executives. Total buffoonery at a tomfoolery contest.

No meetings after 3 or any weekend work?

Sounds like a group that could and should be easily outsourced.
