I had the pleasure to hotel on a floor which mainly consists of operational risk staff. I was surprised to see the amount of individuals sitting in their isolated offices and browsing on their phones, taking power naps or just reading news articles endlessly.
This group is also filled with older folks who seem to be at the tail end of their careers so the relaxed attitude probably makes sense.
I keep seeing layoffs happening in groups that are a lot more hard working and wondering how does senior management not see the slack in groups like this?
I am not trying to be negative but such an attitude is disappointing when you work 60 plus hours and then see a whole group chilling out. Why are there no staff reductions in group like this ? There is barely news of cost cuts in this group.
Any input would be appreciated.
