Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I think I'm about to be laid off

Strange things were happening to me last week, including getting some "help" on the project I'm working on when I didn't ask for it or need it and my boss going out of his way to avoid me, including canceling our weekly meeting. I've been thinking about this the whole weekend and I have a feeling my days at T are numbered. Was anybody else in a similar situation?

It's almost like once Stankey gets a taste of layoff blood he develops an insatiable appetite for more and more layoff blood!

I know I'm on the hit list, after my manager torpedoed my internal application to join another work group last year. I gave my best effort doing my job, recognized there isn't enough work to justify my role and attempted to take the high road in moving on.

This is exactly what is wrong with the company, managers hoarding headcount to hedge layoff. Meanwhile, internal movement is basically non-existent, never mind promotions. I won't miss working in this he-l role, good riddances.

When their supervisor tells them, they will have that look of a deer in the headlights! It's like they didn't have a clue!

It’s unlikely supervising managers know who is on the list until the day of. It’s in your head. Manifest some positive energy and hope for the best.

If your manager and co-workers are treating you like a leppar, then you are about to be kicked to the curb. Has anyone called you a Dodo bird or ringer that you know of?

pretty easy to find the safe people in your group - just look up on moose or their team calendars if they are OOO and taking vacation on the day notifications are supposed to be sent out.

Agreed, your situation has all the earmarks of a layoff. Remember to re-apply as soon as you are able. Do not, repeat, do not, let HR tag you with the DO NOT REHIRE tag in your personnel file. It's the mark of death!

Hope it works out for you but being apart of the Georat layoff sounds like you could be hit.

Probably and hopefully you are laid off. This company is full of cynical, do-nothing employees and the company would be better off letting half of its workforce go…

Working for T means always thinking that you are about to be laid off.

that's funny, your boss probably has no idea you will be laid off and will tell you it was not up to him or her and the decision was made "way up from the top," out of their control ......

Intuition is an amazing thing. Even though we don't realize it, we are each very attuned to the micro-communications and extremely subtle body posturing of our peers, which gives us that ESP-like ability to sometimes predict our future.

In other words, start polishing up your resume right now. And just remember, you'll end up fine, and almost certainly at a better place than T.
