Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Why do I want to consent the paycut?

I am more towards there will be next CPM action regardless of consent. It’s just a dream for Intel to achieve 100% consent begging. Intel never value employee sacrifices and loyalty with rewards, they rather just talking to show appreciation. To be in negative side, if i consent with paycut and receive CPM later, i am already get pay reduction. If I decline consent and receive CPM, then at least i will not get pay cut for 2023. If I do not get CPM, then my salary will at least remain for 2023.

I consent to nothing. I am way past Rule of 75 Eligible. A nice package or litigation. My representation is already lined up. Stay away from ambulance chasers.

This is the million dollar question, and I really don't want to consent. They want to make you feel like you have to.

After last year's raises, I'd gladly take a 5% pay cut over having to go find another job, even if found a job at another company with comparable pay/benefits and my severance more than bridged the gap between termination at Intel and finding the new job.

The big question is if you don't consent, will you get fired?

In Germany you can choose to consent or not. The labor law does not allow the employer to reduce your pay without your consent.
I will not consent, but resign. So I can help Intel most :-)

We do have a choice to decline the consent and reject paycut. I think only those employee in US do not given choice to consent.

What is this consent you speak of? You don't have a choice.

if you agree to take a paycut and get frustrated later and quit, then Intel avoids the unnecessary expense of having to lay you off and give you a package that usually comes with it.

Irish contract has a deadline of this year (to be renewed afterwards) and the percentage cut is not explicit, but "as communicated" (they didn't bother making seperate contacts for the different slices) which is probably enough to hold to the employees favour in a court

You should consent because inflation is easing

The consumer price index in January fell for the seventh consecutive month to 6.4% year-over-year growth, down from the 6.5% rise in December but greater than the 6.2% increase economists predicted. The data, released by the Labor Department yesterday, indicate it may take longer than anticipated for inflation to decrease.

Prices increased by 0.5% on a month-to-month basis, the largest increase in three months, with food (0.5%) and gas prices (2.4%) accounting for much of the increase.

One major problem is what you're consenting to.

I don't know if it's the same everywhere, but my consent proposal does not mention percentage cut, when it is applicable, or any other crucial details.
