Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Do you think (honestly) there is more to come? Why

Wanted some opinions. The layoffs are going through but from where we are we are not seeing the market softness that is being talked about. The sales are there and in fact most of the barriers to selling are not customer flatness or competition but the internal challenges.

If they cut more people out delivery will suffer unless they start realigning chunks of the business to channel/sell off BU's.

What makes you think there is more on the way?

Dell didn't layoff 7000 people in two days. My manager told me the day off my HR your out of here call that there will be more layoffs.

Oh certainly more to come with all the reorgs. My VP was talking about “consolidation of teams” and that screams redundancy lay offs to me. Was also mentioning managers with no teams who I image will have a hard time keeping their roles.

I’m not privy to any special insights just observations and listening to all hands in the services org.

Of course there will be more layoffs. They have to feed the beast. The demand to have ever increasing profit margins for larger payouts to the investor class will never end. Workers be damned! Trust me, working hard will not save you. These layoffs were not merit based. Top performers were let go & incompetent slackers remain.

Because some of us have spoken with senior director and VP and above and know that more is coming. If/when we know specifics, without revealing too much that could ID us, we will share. My guess based on what I’ve heard is there’s going to still be some realignment for a couple months, with more potential cuts at 2H.

This board is good for information sharing so we can compare notes, but don’t assume your job is ever “safe” and don’t dwell on it. Work hard but also understand the reality of large corporations so have a work/life balance. Don’t live in anxiety over all this, whether you’re still employed or already laid off.
