Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Retirement Question

I am getting kicked out as part of CPM, but I am eligible for retirement. If I 'retire', do I lose my payment benefits of 1.5 weeks/year or the ability to collect unemployment?

You are not leaving the company voluntarily. Since you are being forced to retire, you definitely can collect unemployment insurance benefits.

The severance package documentation says this: "Intel’s response to an
unemployment agency’s inquiry will state that your job was eliminated as part of a business reorganization."

FYI, I am in the same situation as the OP and I have already asked about it.

Agree, should be eligible for unemployment.

In the US if you were not fired for cause and leaving was not your choice then you are likely to be able to receive unemployment benefits no matter your age. Odd enough, this would even be the case if the company had a mandatory retirement age and you were let go based on that.

If you're eligible for retirement and are also in CPM, you will get all the benefits you are entitled to for both (severance and retirement), per CPM guidance. I'm assuming you're based in the US. I don't know about unemployment benefits. I expect that varies per individual. Good luck.
