Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Intel isn’t that bad altogether

I am a recent college graduate that joined Intel as a SWE, and love everything the the company has to offer. I have previously worked at FAANG in my home country as well as interned in the US. Additionally, I have also worked in many startups in my home country and it has always been a dog eat dog competition. My team at Intel is the only one that I have had so far where I felt my manager actually cared for me and wants me to grow. I have never received the kind of mentorship or help from colleagues in any of my previous organizations, and Intel feels like the only place that I would be able to make long lasting connections. Honestly when I first joined Intel, I thought that it was a downgrade from FAANG but I have absolutely no regrets. I genuinely want Intel to succeed, the austerity measures do worry me a little but it’s far better than my previous organizations where my peers openly used to criticize each other’s work on standups only to be in the good eye of the manager. The manager never addressed to this and in fact encouraged this kind of a working dynamics. This has been the case with almost all companies that I had previously worked at.
I hope each of us realize that Intel fosters a growing culture unlike many FAANGs that have toxicity in their core, and let’s make this company great again

Those positive feelings should be enjoyed and cherished, as things ultimately are a bit of a roller coaster at Intel. Your good situation can end in the next reorg or “people movement”, so always be prepared!

Funny how people think positive post must be fake and from HR yet all the negative post are from real employees. You do realize anyone can post on this page and many of the negative posts could be made by Intel's competitors.

One can only wonder why a new-hire fresh out of college would take the time to create a lengthy post on an anonymous website like this one.

Was this written by ChatGPT? Only way to make sense of RCG having worked at many startups.

Let's hope those long-lasting connections will last until at least Q1 results. With all the chickens of the last 20 years coming home to roost this is going to be one brutal year at Intel.

I felt that way too when I was a rcg bit after layoff after layoff and constantly having to keep my guard up and second guessing it got old and exhausting. I loved my team and boss this time around and am reasonably sure that my performance would have made me safe as a reasonably high performer but I asked myself if it was worth it and the answer at this point in my life was no. In my 30s fear of finding a new job and being driven made for a different answer. Wishing you the best of luck.

There is some truth to what you say... Intel has such a large and bloated team it is possible to spend hours and hours on wasteful activities. This may changes soon, given the absolutely terrible earnings results.

Get as much out of it as you can. But keep your eyes wide hope and when you see the ground approaching at a high rate of speed, jump out the side door and don't forget to pull the rip cord on your parachute.

Give it a few years and that feeling will wear off.
