Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Meta year of efficiency

Meta just gave thousands of employees poor performance reviews that could clear the way for more layoffs during its ‘Year of Efficiency’

Threat comes after 11,000 workers lost their jobs in November.

All companies are the same. Start your own if you want to fight against the man. More likely if you do you will just become the man. There is no free lunch. Capitalism is the best system and it works but it can be brutal.

@fpy+1lgRxT5j well said. That’s exactly right that in big tech employees actually learn valuable technical skills but at xom most employees are given administrative work and any real work is contracted out.

Unions do nothing except create a rich labor board and lazy constituents. Airlines bankrupt, car manufacturers bankrupt..... list goes on and on. If you have actually done work at XOM your skills are very transferable. If you are a leech they are not. Make a choice and stop complaining!

Keep trying to convince yourself that Exxon is better than tech.

The big difference is that those Meta employees are EMPLOYABLE.

You, instead, have no transferrable marketable skills outside EM.

You will be PIPed eventually and unlike the meta employees, will NEVER find equivalent jobs.

Enjoy your wait until it is your turn to get PIPed, outsourced, or retired.

Yep, you voted for capitalism, so gotta now sleep in your bed. Your votes to move your American jobs to the East in search of higher shareholders return is working a treat!

Interesting also to see that the covid great reset appears now to have more the corporates even more powerful.

@OP

Or…

Organize with your coworkers and demand better working conditions. There’s a reason why corporations despise unions; they actually work to protect employees from the worst abuses of management.
