Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

How did he breach past security

According to court documents, the perp used a baseball bat, a hatchet, and a kn--e. He was packing lot of heat tbh. Not sure if they laid off the site security to save costs.

Security is only there for insurance purposes. Saves the company money somehow. They went with the bottom of the barrel, some tool got a huge bonus and promo for that.

I’m pretty sure infidelity is a red herring tossed out there to try to take the heat off.

OC6/OC2 cafeteria entrance has been unmanned since I started working there. You just badge in and you're in.

I for one am looking forward to the upcoming security pat-downs and cavity searches!

@hyf+1lhOziOy , in this case it was what was being carried "in" that was the issue.

In any case, going through security is not like a TSA checkpoint at the airport. There aren't any metal detectors and they don't search your bags. The site has a fitness center so people carrying a gym bag big enough to conceal a bat and the other items probably isn't that unusual. I suspect that going forward passing through security will be more TSA like and that the unattended entrances will likely go away.

My condolences to everyone involved except the perpetrator. This is a horrific tragedy for the victims and their families but also anyone who was in the OC6 cafe that witnessed the event and also to the OC6 cafe workers who probably just got laid off.

There are cameras at every entrance and are monitored. If someone is taking out bulky items, security will know.

He might’ve used the OC6 entrance. As far as I know, not all entrances have a security desk. That one does. I’m told it’s not manned 24/7, but I can’t be sure as the few times I’ve used it, someone has been there.

Speaking of security and lack of awareness: My last day was Wednesday and I was completely unescorted as technically my manager was HR personnel who had 600 other people to deal with who were also RIFed…Security at OC2 was taken aback when I asked what final things they needed from me. Not sure if it’s because I wasn’t irate, wasn’t escorted, or both.

“How did he breach past security”. Lol. You don’t work here do you.

Obviously not someone who works on campus.

Security only cares if you badge in. They don't monitor what comes in or out. You could walk out with a $500k piece of equipment and they may say "good night".

They barely cared.

“Get back to work. Avoid OC6 cafeteria”.
