I think if there is a layoff, it will be across the board, even though it's been stated there are 25% more engineers than needed. I don't think any department will be spared.

Burn it all down who cares anymore? They lost my loyalty long before I was SIRP in 2022.
Happened when I was an IT team lead way back in 2008; my at the time LL6 asked me who the weakest link on the team, who could afford to lose. Right then and there I had a bad feeling of “……so this is how things really work” and my perception change immediately and never wavered.
For the overwhelming majority of people you are always just a number. There is and never was a family feeling….so just burn it down all ready and get rid of it.
No one in nl any department is safe.
