Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Heard it right from the top! Layoffs then full RTO!!

This will occur in the next 2-3 months. Massive NA salaried layoffs. In the aftermath, with everyone still reeling, a full RTO. Hybrid will be dead. And I've even heard that the pre-pandemic "one day a week WFH" will even be cracked done on!

It's coming.......

I initially thought the OP was a troll, pot -stirer. But this week I'm hearing rumors that seem to corroborate this. I'm in Model e and the LL4s+ have suddenly gone dark just like they did with her run up to August 22nd. So that's the layoff side.

On the RTO side, still nothing official, but suddenly I'm being pulled into 2 day a week collaboration days, mandatory in office. Starting next week these are scheduled, twice a week, for the next 3 weeks. Lots of rumors flying that this will result in an official 2-3 days a week in office starting in April.

Makes you go hmm.

Where there the OP is right or not, I wouldn't underestimate the power of this site. It's a cyclical, when nothing's cooking threads tend to get a little bit boring. Regardless, it can always be pretty informative, just need to learn how to read it and navigate through post.
Take things written here with a grain of salt, but also note that all relevant info comes here first, certanly way before it gets in newspapers and ussually way before most of your managers get notified, so it's worth taking a look at least from time to time.
When scrolling, pay attention to people's engagement, it works pretty well (when there is a dim there is a fire). Empty statements and trolling gets downvoted and buried pretty fast, relevant info gets upvoted and threads have a lot of good responses.
Don't bother with troll posts, just skip it, mods will nuke it eventually.

I'm the one who made the trolling joke.

I don't, for one moment, stick my head in the sand. I still work here too. And my team has been rocked by layoffs and the workloads we've picked up as a result.

This website used to have somewhat reliable information. Now it tends to be more like Chicken Little with 'the sky is falling' type of posts. And they rarely pan out. Saying 'more layoffs and RTO' isn't very specific. It's what is happening at many companies in this country.

I did assume that the OP was trolling with a wide net : 3 months. Sure, a lot can happen in one quarter of a year. Especially after JF's comment about having too many engineers. I could guarantee that there will be layoffs in 2023 - and most likely be correct - but I wouldn't post it as a new thread. But it sounds like you know the OP personally and either believe them or have heard the same information as their post.

I am the OP. The same poster that told you that the battery issue with the Lightning was much more severe than you all thought. I don't troll or make things up. I share insider info that I have.

If that makes me a troll then pay me my toll!!

@OP+1lhjxgiV, you can dismiss the OP as a troll. You can stick your head in the sand related to the upcoming layoffs. But take my word for it: prepare yourself. Because I happen to have it on good authority that the original poster is more right than wrong. I personally had an LL4 tell me that there is a bigger layoff coming than last August, and no one is safe. No one. Many other posters on this site have posted similar discussions with higher ups.

So you can continue to dismiss it, but where there is smoke, there's fire.

OP, I appreciate a good troll post as much as the next guy, but this one is pretty run of the mill. At least for this forum. You'll have to do better. Try worshiping Car Car and telling us we're all wrong when criticizing him. Or act like an entitled LL6 and say we're all losers and WFH is 100% lazy people. Those are just some ideas to get you started lol

Burn it all down who cares anymore? They lost my loyalty long before I was SIRP in 2022.

Happened when I was an IT team lead way back in 2008; my at the time LL6 asked me who the weakest link on the team, who could afford to lose. Right then and there I had a bad feeling of “……so this is how things really work” and my perception change immediately and never wavered.

For the overwhelming majority of people you are always just a number. There is and never was a family feeling….so just burn it down all ready and get rid of it.

Wait, this information can't be correct. It can't be possible that we are laying off while we employ the most H1b workers that we have ever had on staff in recent history.

https://www.h1bdata.org/employers/ford-motor-company

"Ford Motor Company has been in the H1B Visa program since 2011 where they hired 23 employees. They peaked in 2022 with 1,669 employees, and the recent trend shows the average number of employees on an incline."

But I thought we had 25% too many engineers?

From our own press release on FLV:
A key driver of the Ford+ plan to grow and create value for customers and other stakeholders…Louis-Victor, 48, who will start with Ford on July 1, 2021 will be accountable for developing and executing a comprehensive strategic plan that includes the company’s existing and emerging portfolio of capabilities in areas like autonomous vehicles and mobility services, as well as Ford’s incubator, Ford X.

“We’re accelerating development of disruptive technologies and focusing on being a leader in areas that enhance always-on relationships with customers and give them increasing freedom of movement,” said Ford President and CEO Jim Farley. “Franck’s got great experience that will help his team and Ford nurture new ideas through the start-up phase, with the best opportunities launched on their own or integrated into our business units.”

FLV and his team have done none of that. Hopefully their PEPs and terminations will happen sooner rather than later. That fixes our $2 Billion loss.

RTO is fine if you actually have folks in the office to collaborate with. Everything is being off-shored, who is left to have in person collaboration with? Fire up Web-Ex at PDC instead of your home.

@jsd After you say no to RTO, you can practice saying Hi to the unemployment office.

Doug Field. Promotion from within. Absolutely do not have to go outside the company this time.

@bak
If the Next Directors, including Victor, Moran and Moser are shown the door and their staffs eliminated, the salary savings will be over $100 million and the reduction of wasted resources could total $2 billion annually. While I would love to see this happen, do you truly believe that Bill Ford will cut the cord on Ford Next? He still thinks we are going to be a data and subscription provider. You sound closer to that group than I am.

"Most of the older pensioned workers that were targets for ' separation ' have been removed;"

Patently untrue. There are still thousands. And yes they will be targeted, but for everyone of them targeted, 2-3 non-pensioners will be too. HR won't make the same mistake from 2019.

Wall Street has been signaling that they are at the end of their rope with Farley. If they start punishing the stock price that’s going to put pressure on Bill from family members seeing their net worth plummet in real time. However, if Bill does pull the trigger and Farley gets the 3rd CEO golden parachute in 9 years, who does he turn to? The Ford executive bench has been decimated in large part due to Farley running his competition out of the company. You’re certainly not going to promote a Farley crony. You have to go outside the company and find someone at a competitor who has somehow been overlooked and is competent enough to take over in a crisis. That’s a tall order.

Replace ' layoff ' with PEPs and ' special assignments '. Most of the older pensioned workers that were targets for ' separation ' have been removed; few exceptions especially in the design studios ( but they're about to be exposed and eliminated ).
The real news are the LL4/3/2 s that are about to be terminated. Farley needs a scapegoat for all the recalls, quality, failed enterprises, inferior designs, wasted resources, etc....
Baumbick will be on special assignment then disappear, Musgraves will also be booted, the entire Next Directors, including Moran and Moser will be shown the door and their staffs eliminated. Read Lawler's statements, he's made it clear what's coming. Shareholders and Wall Street have no confidence in Farley, doubt Alexandra will save his a$$ - BF will do what he did to Fields and Hackett. Who will be next CEO is the mystery! At this point a monkey is better than Failed Farley.
As far as Model E goes, its all a smokescreen to reduce headcount, ICE / hybrid has another 20 - 30 years. Also Add Cannis to the cut list. Another talker just like Field that has produced nothing.

Good. Finally. This is the only way to get back on track. DF been hinting at this for a while now as Model e really needs to have full team collaboration regularly to deliver Ford+.

OP is the same loser who makes the same inflammatory post every couple of days talking about either:

  • Massive layoffs
  • RTO

Every post is exactly the same. Intentionally vague but written as though they're the top-most authority on whats going on behind the scenes.

Writes like a child! With lots of exclamation marks! As if to make their post seem more official! And doesn't know.......... how to use an ellipsis!

I'll mark your predictions on the calendar along with every other post made claiming to know the future
