Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

There are still those who should be laid off

Unfortunately, those are the same people who survive every single round of layoffs despite their incompetence and laziness. I'm starting to think that the only way to have job security at T is to learn how to kiss the right butts. It doesn't matter how good you are at your job, as long as your lips are firmly planted against the right behind.

What you describe is not unique to AT&T. Nepotism, favoritism, inner circles, cool crowds, and good old boy networks have been alive and well every place I've ever worked, even in the military. Sure, it's a huge problem, but people will always find an excuse to divide into subgroups and ostracize those who fail to meet their arbitrary standards that change daily, while simultaneously taking care of their own buddy group. Of course it's wrong and unfair, but to be sure, that problem is much larger than AT&T.

You could learn a real skill, obtain REAL external validation. Or, bail and wail as the rudderless T takes on a little more water.

Take me, please...I'd be all too happy to escape the wrath of T!

You’re just starting to realize this? It’s been like this at T for as long as I’ve been here(over 25 years).

It's remarkable how many go through life not realizing that kissing a-s and tooting your own ho-n are essential skills. Failing to learn this is just low EQ. Selling yourself doesn't stop at the interview.

Don't talk so badly about yourself, get help.
