Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

My boss thinks someone else manages me, he is out

To lunch. This has been going on for 10 months and I have simply been collecting checks. I have not heard from my direct boss in over 6 months. No phone,no email, no texts nothing. It's as if I don't exist to him. Is this common at ATT with other people to go through periods like this?

My boss has been pretty good about meeting 1:1 with his direct reports every two weeks. This is a policy in our department. If your boss doesnt meet with you then he won't learn what issues are blocking and his employees will start sweeping problems under the rug.

I had the opposite problem, extreme micromanagement. I get asked if I wiped my a-s after taking a bio break, figurative speech, but you get the picture. Manager must had a lot free time and won’t leave people alone to do their work. Glad I’m leaving, peace out.

I had a boss like that. We wouldn’t communicate all year then he’d do my review. It was basically i don’t know what you do but you must be good at it because my phone never rings.

"This has been going on for 10 months" and "I have not heard from my direct boss in over 6 months."

Sounds fishy to me about the truth.

Doesn't make sense. He has to know who his direct reports are. There are also semi annual and annual interactions that MUST occur. Makes me think this is made up. If not and this is "somehow" true, you should reach out to his Boss, immediately.

I would immediately be asking for a skip level.

I went 14 months without hearing from my Boss- sure, maybe CC'd on an email, but NO direct 1:1 contact for 14 months. Sure, we were in different cities, but still...

I would say your boss needs to be retrained or fired. Your boss should you ask with you weekly and this is minimum.

I don't believe it's common but with a workforce is big as AT&T even 1% is a lot.
