My job has been slow lately cuz of the higher ups trying to automate everything they can. This has been a long time coming but its finally here.... lot of people in my group are worried... im on the union side... our group is sort of mid sized.... hopefully there wont be too many layoffs if any in my group

History repeating itself. In the 1980's phone center stores put I& M outta business. They provided phones, modular adaptors, and cords. This is no different.
I've found automation is of limited success. For it to work, you have to account for all of the parameters that the customer and the company can deal with. Fine when you are selling Big Macs, but not so great when customers demand customization of a circuit, or the circuit cannot be found by the automated tool to report a trouble. I think it will get there one day, but it takes a lot of growing pains and accountability.
AMDOCS will come in and save the day!
Tech Dev is outsourced and high priced — even higher when we you calculate there’s teams of L2s &3s that are set up to be go between. All these jobs were safe.
What job on the union side is being automated? What dept are you in?
