Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Is the end of Moore's law a blessing for slightly lagging fabs like Intel?

How much better in real performance does the leading edge TSMC nodes have over Intel's? I have been out of it for some time. Just asking. Hope someone would explain.

13nm itself had problems. But Intel did not learn. Went into 10nm with some more of the same arrogance.

Intel had a 2 generation process lead when BK took over as head of TMG. It shrank to one generation or about par when he became CEO. It was about a generation behind when he was fired. QED

Intel is telling you that its 10nm is comparable to TSMC's more advanced 7nm variants. That sounds like marketing BS in the real world. I'll take the 7, thank you. Now for Pat's new plan: Do we really think customers will pay to have Intel fabs build old, out-of-date chips?

Imagine what Intel could have done if 10nm came on schedule, or if they had 4nm now to compete against AMD, Nvidia or Apple.

Nothing enables superior performance better than the next node, sadly or is Intel in the rear view mirror

Intel 10nm is comparable to TSMC's more advanced 7nm variants, so against current 4nm chips probably 25-30% at the same power consumption.
