Thread regarding Change Healthcare layoffs

How worried should I be about layoffs at chc?

I’ve been doing my work for 8 almost 9 months. Keeping my head down doing my work and I think I’ve been doing a good job. I’m in accounts receivable.
I haven’t been worried about layoffs too much because I don’t know anyone personally except for one person in another dept who was laid off a couple weeks ago.
I know people here probably have no clue or maybe they do. How many people are optum planning to lay off?
Ofc I’m gonna apply to some jobs this weekend but I was not prepared to leave so early if I was laid off…

I don’t want this to impact my work performance though.

I’m on the benefits meeting right now. Almost 1000 people are on this call.

Should I even listen to this benefit meeting if I might not be here after March 9th!!?

The merge between CHC and Optum has been on hold for most of the pandemic due to the lawsuit by the DOJ. Everything was very stable during that time and we experienced very few layoffs if any. That has all changed and it's full steam ahead towards combining the two companies. We've already seen a large number of layoffs in 2023 so I would be concerned and maybe hold off on big expenses or life changes until after April.
