Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Don't quit on account of RTO

Charlie and the rest of his sycophants want you to. Just go back to working your exact hours and being unavailable the moment you leave the office. Make them lay you off. Make them pay you instead of walking away empty-handed. I hear too many people saying this is it for them, and I hate how well their plan is working.

Put breaks and lunches on your outlook calendar and actually take them. Decline meetings that overlap. Decline meetings outside your normal hours. Viva la resistance. We will win over the id--t in NYC and his stupid a$$ "report".

Charlie is just trimming the herd until his overlords at Chase take over what’s left of the bank when the regulators dissolve it. They are doing everything they can ( risk overlay…) to document a reason to terminate for cause and negate severance. Chase doesn’t want Consumer lending, hence exiting mortgage and student lending, and retirement. They want brokerage because that group generates more revenue.

Ride the horse and take the package. Just be certain to CYA and provide no evidence for termination due to cause.

I only do the work asked of me. Anything else is exceeds. And forget about me calling out a problem.

I’m on this gravy train for the long haul.
I’ve been here over five years and used to be proud to work for WF. I was 100% remote before Covid.
Since RTO and new hard push for DIE, things have changed dramatically with WF.
I will not do anything more than what is required. Why should I work hard when many on my team don’t have to?

Sadly, it’s become a game of last man standing for me. I’ve been a Meets or Exceeds employee for all of my many years. I’ve given far more than many of my similarly titled peers, both in hours spent working, projects or tasks undertaken and output of results. I’ve seen CEOs come and go here over that time.

Now, as of this year, I am committed to do my job at a Meets level (only) for 8 hours a day during my normal scheduled hours — nothing more and nothing less. The firm has drawn their line in the sand and so have I.

I have been a remote employee for many years prior to the pandemic. It’s not only about RTO or the threat of “ripping up” my telecommuting agreement. It’s about the current F EWE employee culture that c-suite has, the reckless financial decisions, the horrendous risk gaps that won’t be “unearthed” or solved because we have 2 PWC coaches “guiding” the documentation or risks and controls in workshops, the blatant blind eye that HR turns when people DO report unethical or toxic behavior and SO much more.

They can displace me, which I have accepted and embrace as a likely fate. Or I will outlast the current abysmal CEO and Operating Committee. Either is fine, at this point.

Meanwhile, I’ll take my sweet “extra exceeds” time daily making sure I cover my ar-e until one of those things happen.

My analogy is this - You are riding on a sick horse. Just keep riding until the horse dies, then find another horse.
