Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Bye to WFH?

I’m hearing rumors that Nike will go back to a 5-day in person work week. Among the reasons is that it would nudge people to leave Nike though natural attrition so as to avoid a layoff. Another is that innovation is best in person. I’ll be seriously missing my WFH Monday and Fridays!

We were told by our VP that John Don would like to, as well as some other C-Suite folks. Don’t know if it’ll happen but our VP basically cracked down and is making sure we’re in for our 3 days. So many teams are not even coming in on anchor days. If that keeps up, I guarantee they’ll go to 5 days.

D-mb rumor. Very few large companies will ever go back to a full 5-day office schedule and the reason is obvious…they’d lose their best people who have plenty of other options. Hybrid will remain and if anything the new trend is moving towards 4-day work weeks since a growing body of research shows it massively increases both morale and productivity. Exactly no one is looking to spend more time in the office.

“Innovation is best in person” is nonsense. Brainstorming and meetings are best in person. Tinker Hatfield has been working for the last 30 years and he has been innovative!

Haven’t heard anything regarding WFH or RTO in my team yet. It’s possible that WFH could be ended or could be just rumor.
