Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Intel is likely to be forced into IDM 2.0

Nobody wants to fab Intel chips when it is still wed to TMG.
TMG couldn't make Intel chips.
Nobody wants to buy TMG.
Intel don't have the courage to discard TMG.

So IDM 2.0 is cooked up to turn deadly bugs into features. It doesn't fool anyone but the show must go on.

It's not like Intel hasn't tried.

TMG & TD two big millstones around Intel’s neck. Can’t believe two biggest and costliest groups don’t want to cut jobs.

@1lrf+1lno2Wek Intel will most certainly fail, LTD with their garbage PDK, terrible process execution plus add equally terrible execution from the product team

Without manufacturing, tell me what long term adv will Intel have ? What reason would it have to live as a company. You already have AMD as fabless and they have figured out the right way to function in fabless environment for last 20 years. And Intel doesnt have any advantage for x86 arch over AMD.

So then Intel is just a commodity business.

IF there is a desire to lead again and not be a 4-5th fabless silicon supplier in the industry, company HAS to try to do IDM 2.0 and also there is no option to fail now in this. There is too much invested in this. Not only from capital standpoint, but from time investment standpoint too.

Everything relies now on Intel's internal IP development teams discipline to be able to execute fast and produce quality results, AND, IDM 2.0 execution.

Intel must execute flawlessly over next 1 year.

"Bob was trying to work a deal but while it made strategic and economic sense..."

It may not make sense for the other parties. It's a very short list of 2 (or 3?). If they don't return the call, Bob is out and IDM 2.0 is the greatest and only default position.

It makes things simple though: call back the guys that worked and make it work again.

Bob was trying to work a deal but while it made strategic and economic sense it didn’t adhere to religious and fanatical belief so a new leader was selected to lead the blind to the fake promised land
