The BOD. They should have gotten rid of Stephenson long before he was able to do all the damage. Literally everything Stephenson has touched has turned to cr-p.

You know RS is still on payroll & negotiated a huge salary under contract as a consultant. He is still controlling more than employees know. JS is continuing to run company in ground. All of the fines & law suits company is paying is out of control. Just waiting for the FCC to step in.

I’ll tell you who is Not responsible for T downfall, the level 1 and 2 managers and the craft employees. We are all doing the job told to do by the decision makers, yet we go on the chopping block when times are tough and the decision makers are rewarded with over inflated bonus and salary. Greed runs this company, pure and simple!

att is what the baby bells who were bought by Whitaker became.sbc, Whitaker, rs and js pillaged and plundered the babies in the manner of chainsaw Dunlap. now the whole company is antiquated and overleveraged.good work. it’s not too big to fail, interest rates are burying att

Ultimately, that could go a lot of directions. I will say the person who thought it would be a good idea to have an endless unlimited copper cable “repair” budget(frog & layout by passers) instead of placing fiber for the last 25 years holds some of that blame.

Randell S and John S. Ed W left a strong company with a vision. The current and former guy have no vision but chase other CEOs vision in areas they know nothing about or invest in aging tech. Examples Digital Life, Direct TV, Zander, Cyber, Warner……Spend billions, mismanage, sell for millions at a loss. We will probably by Twitter next.

As the ship takes on more water, I assure you will be cast aside without access to a lifeboat. Your "team" will certainly turn on you for survival. Nothing you can do about it. You thought you were irreplaceable, but you are finding out this is not the case. Every man and woman for themselves. "Sanjeep and Althea are awaiting the knowledge transfer. Tank-Q.

The writing was on the wall when they got rid of switchboard operators.

Your statement is somewhat funny, but not at all useful or germane to the topic at hand.

MCI?

But seriously, Stephenson should have been fired after the T-mobile disaster. He went on and continued with more risky acquisitions. He was leading with such distinction. Do you remember those “LWD” BS trainings during his tenure?

It is hard to describe the incredibly innept leadership AT&T has endured for decades. The latest from John Stankey / Jeremey Legg is a full on return to office which will require a purchase of real estate and the best of the best emplyees will quietly quit for more modern companies. Too many other companies have very successful WFH positions. This is a failing company led by incredibly short sighted leaders.

Ultimately ? The board. They ultimately decided to keep mo--n Stephenson in and doubled down by sticking with Stankey despite both costing the company billions. Not only that , they authorized their bonuses AFTER the losses!!!

How is this even a question?? Randy started it with a failed T mobile acquisition. Randy didn't fall on the sword. John Stankey gave his nod to this. "Because he is a tech leader". Those two tech "giants" doubled down on Direct TV and Warner Media. Imagine, just phucking imagine how MUCH DEBT AT&T WOULD NOT HAVE if not for the "visionaries" of John and Randy. AT&T would not be the most indebted company, YES the most indebted company in American history. Go to the town hall meetings and bobble your heads in "agreement" when the camera comes your way. The fact is T has a lot of debt, and almost all of it is the result of FAILED "leadership".

The board of directors are the id--ts that let a crazed miscalculating gambler make failed megabets using ma bell's once healthy purse as collateral. It was a double mugging- ma bell brutalized by ceo and board, gang style. Then, the board put prior co-driver of the crazy bus in charge now. Board needs gone tomorrow, with stinkey, and ban randy from ever stepping foot on ma bell property again, and take back his pension on grounds of gross negligence by board and ceo. Criminal financial malpractice by multiple parties.

The board of directors.

They make the call on who’s in those executive roles and approve the business strategy.

Stankey. He was Stephenson's chief strategy office (official title).... 3 big effing strategic blunders in a row...... Cost may billions! Can't make this up. The board must be asleep for choosing him as CEO.... Stephenson / Stankey duo probably worst CEO due in American business history. Their blunders will be textbook material at business schools for years to come..... I would be too embarrassed if I were Stankey to accept role as CEO... The guy has no shame.... Sign me 37 year retiree.... AVP level at that....
