A bunch of recruiting leaders, recruiters, and admin staff got laid off today.
It’s not part of the modernization work. It was a business decision based on volume of work and $$$.

Wow. There’s that signature Nike HR arrogance.
This is why it is IMPOSSIBLE to land the good candidates.
“They want me. I’m the biggest & best bi--h on the block”
No you’re not Nike. Nerds don’t care about brands. You’re not even a tech company in their eyes.
Tell me you don’t understand tech without telling me you don’t understand tech @2bas
If you think a lack of recruiters are going to make Nike "late to the party," you need to step your game way the fu-k up.
Kinda funny how last year Tech in general was booming. I had 'open' but not actually posted or interviewing headcount. Was told that we did not have sufficient folks in TA, and they were managing workload by only opening prioritized positions. When good times return we will have to wait to rebuild TA before we can start actual hiring. Will make us late to the party.
They need them but what a waste if you don’t care if you keep the new hires or not. How many relocations for them to stay a year or two?

Can confirm as I saw some folks on LinkedIn who got laid off. Recruiting and talent acquisition seems to be a tough field to be in the last 6months or so
Nike is horrible at planning. Anyone notice the pattern? Hire a bunch of recruiters. Lay them off and then layoffs across the company. Repeat.
it’s not just Nike, but Nike HR has been in this cycle long before it was popular. The recruiting function is so dysfunctional. The leader is terrible, but doesn’t seem to be held accountable.
I guess if you have a hiring freeze you don't need recruiters.
Retail and Supply Chain orgs. They continue to do layoffs in small batches.
Confirmed through direct contact with someone who was laid off.
Recruiting for which org?
sorry to hear this, but may i know whats your source or are you one of the laid off folks?
