Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Layoffs started other side of the Town. In 2019 also, they took a valid decision anticipating a downturn in 2020.

Then covid happened! What's next for 2023 here? Will the management follow her footsteps.

Good points to both individuals in response to my post and your references about quality improving and issues back to 1995 and 2000. Let's see where this goes to make the changes needed along with downsizing.

Management at Ford finally seems to be taking Quality seriously. Also, it appears we are actually starting to make progress integrating agile and waterfall processes. Looks like other OEMs like Toyota will soon be asking to see our processes again. I agree that each employee should keep their powder dry. Hopefully we won't make the same mistake RPJ did in the late2000s when he packaged all the systems engineers. We're still trying to recover from that...

ltq+1lqItfm6 you will find the problem has been there long before COVID. Try 1995 or Ford 2000. Back then we had a product lineup that had multiple products that made money not just F-Series like we have today.
As one WS analyst state din 2017 90%+ of Fords profits comes from F-Series.
What you failed to mention was how our current CEO have made such intelligent comments about complexity. I recall Jim Hackett or Buddy as we call him made such a statement that one of the analyst that looks like a slide from when Alan was CEO.

Here we have JF who came form Toyota you would have thought he would have learned. Look how much complexity grew under his direction as Marketing VP. The engineer does not control the buildable combinations, the engineer does not control complexity they are directed to do so.
Work from home has nothing to do with it. Yes you are right we are going down the tube. Focused on useless garbage like TVM. So if the company wants to continue down this path then stop blaming the workers. JF and management need to look in the mirror.

hey @ltq+1lqItfm6,
damn right Ford needs to clean house and rid itself of all these do nothing, work from home FAKES - starting with Ford Next Leadership and DFord.
Both have done nothing, repackaging nonsense that has failed elsewhere.
What have either groups done that has generated profits?! NOTHING.
The id--t from HP at NEXT, is concerned more about his chik-fil-a delivery than leading a group that BLEEDS BILLIONS OF $$$$$$$$ and the other fake was laughed at CES presenting Canopy.
Anyone sit through a Musgr@ve$ review, talk$ and talk$ and talk$ and nothing accomplished.
Hey Lawler, you need to balance your book$ for WS, terminate those 2 groups and you can show Ford made a profit!!!!!!!

Ford needs to clean house and rid itself of all these do nothing, work from home, staff and agency workers. All these ridiculous report and analysis functions that mean zero to the bottom line. At least GM is taking action while Ford is heading downward... these new vehicles won't save Ford if the bloated staff just drain the cash reserves each payday! I hope March includes huge layoffs and Purchased Service cuts on meaningless marketing budgets! It needs to be massive like 25 percent of everything!

Agree with previous poster. Cuts need to start with TOP MANAGEMENT and BOD. BF has once again demonstrated he is in way over his head. GENE POOL did him a favor. Maybe some people forgot he was fired by his own family in spring of 06.
Train station what a mess that has been. Why did Ford buy that? Why? I am surprised WS and the Press give BF A PASS ON THAT. A total waste of company funds for that.
JF. Can anyone tell me what has this man done since he hired in at Ford? He is suppose to be a so-called market guru. yet we left car markets and our market share has shrunk.
Now this is a guy who proclaims to be a real product guy. He is a YES MAN to BF and a bobblehead. Lacks leadership.
I am glad to see WS is finally starting to see some bankers calling for JF to go. They need to get rid of BF as well.

Luckily, Ford does not have to lay off because it has been staying nimble through process leadership and staying ahead of supply-chain issues using "Farley Flexing".

Ford has already laid off THOUSANDS! Most were over 50 and pensioned. Ford got sued and paid out plenty for age discrimination. Hackett's ' redesign ' put targets on those workers and Farley wants them all out.
Look at the so-called leadership brought in from outside. Louis Victor, Doug Field, Saurabh Raisinghani, Jae Park as well as id--ts and fails from Hewlett Packard. They are destroying the company. Farley has lost respect and confidence from investors and shareholders - everyone else, especially GM had incredible profits and we loose BILLIONS!!!!!!
Accountability folks!
Damn right Ford needs terminations and it needs to be LL2/ 3/ 4, starting with Farley the Fake.

Wise advice. Always be prepared for the worst. Ads the previous post stated; have all your work accessible, have your finances in order ( at least 6 months or more ). If you are over 50 and pension eligible you are a target. If your manager/ director doesn't ike you, you're a target. Remember, performace and accomplishments mean NOTHING at Ford. I was burned once when fakes came out of the woodwork attempting ot take credit for my work - I challenged them and got screwed. As more outsiders are brought in that are fakes and can not deliver, its become dog eat dog.

Tell me year, oh IDK, since 2017
when Ford has not laid off any white collar ( including agency and purchased service) staff?

It is has been such a slow circling of the drain to the bottom I think most people still there lose sight of that fact - either that or they are in denial hoping for the best.

Instead of incessantly wondering about layoffs all the time, make sure your finances are in order, make double sure you have everything you need off your laptop ,personal and professional, that can tell the story of what you have done, and just wait until your number is called. Especially if you are one of the few left that is pension eligible; you can count on being let go in the next two years max no matter your level, or skills. It is blatantly obvious what is going on.
