Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

I love Intel

It’s a nice place to work with nice people, and a pretty nice culture that offers a nice variety of paths to grow yourself professionally, as well do nice things for your community through volunteerism. The charter was nice when we could freely use it, maybe one day again. Nice ESPP benefit. It will be nice when 401K is renewed and we all get a nice raise for the work we’ve done. Nice working with geniuses at the very top of their fields every day, it makes me feel smarter, which is nice. The additional insurance perks like short-term disability, and who could forget about the nicest thing of all - the sabbatical! Such a nice thing to do, and a great display of empathy for employees. Ok, nice posting, have a nice day.

If the best part of your compensation package is something you get every four or seven years, then something is wrong.

@izt+1lqOvCjn A few years ago, there was a young female employee who for years appeared to do nothing other than post the comment "Diversity at Intel" on every pro-DEI story on Intel's internal "Circuit" webpage. I dont know if she was HR, but your stated experience comes as no surprise.

@bhn+1lqOvCjn Had there been an actual emergency, HR would’ve done what it did last time…

Send out a single vague text/email, wait for someone else to handle the problem, then implore everyone to get back to work (and if you step in your coworker’s not-yet-dry blood, clean up after yourself, you animal).

This concludes the daily H.R. broadcast. Had there been an actual emergency, all your scheduled meetings would have been cancelled.

I once caught my manager watching Netflix movie in office conference room acting like he's working on next big thing. Sure this place is heaven for who want to scoot and loot

It’s the beginning of the end. Intel has finally had its day in the sun, night is here. The Japanese would say the corporation is in winter mode.
Intel has lost their grip on HPC…this will cascade given time.
The key senior engineers have retired or moved on…

I sat next to someone on the Intel shuttle one time, well before covid, in fact it was probably 8-10 years ago. This person hooked up to the wifi and spent the entire flight going from place to place on the web, including LinkedIn and Facebook, posting things about Intel. I looked up her name and yup HR. I was kind of baffled and then it occurred to me Intel pays some HR people to “influence” or even “propagandize”. I thought this girl looked was less than 25 years old, maybe even an intern.

@pmx+1lqOvCjn I have heard from a reliable source that Intel has personnel (most likely HR and possibly Legal) that monitor social media sites like this so its very likely some of them post here to try to discredit those who post hard negative truths about Intel and also to try to prop up Intel's external image.

Does HR have better things to do than posting this kind of garbage here almost daily ?

Geniuses have moved on from Intel and the product execution and pipelines show that.

Other tech companies are also “nice” and on average have much better perks. Surely you’ve heard of Google, Apple, etc???

Not to mention that they offer MUCH better compensation due RSU outperformance and MUCH better opportunities for growth.

Intel has no growth (and now went negative) and so the opportunities are limited since the employees are competing over a fixed pie. The senior engineers on the top have nowhere to go (no growth) and so the lower ranks can’t advance.

This isn’t nice.
This is very depressing.

"it makes me feel smarter, which is nice" - pull that wool further over your eyes, buddy.

This post really highlights the problem with Intel. Worry less about your feelings and more about your customers' feelings.
