About time we started using automation/chat bot to reduce wireline headcount. Next play will be a total spin off like DTV since there is not revenue growth on wireline side.

“They just laid off an entire BAT team here in Georgia last week and I heard MM was being affected today.”

What is BAT and MM? Most people in the company have no clue what these teams represent except those either in then or the Business Unit.

"Yep!!!! i called it all 38 of us got laid off today during a conference call. Awful ... damn you Automation!... thats the future ... everything is gonna be automated... now i have to decide if i wannt try to stay at att in a managment position or get the he-l out and keep my 10 week severance...."

What position do you have and in what group? They just laid off an entire BAT team here in Georgia last week and I heard MM was being affected today.

Live on less than you make and avoid debt. It's so simple.

The flip side to that statement is, "If you're not living beyond your means, you're not living!" Don't strap yourself to the point that you can't enjoy life, the fruits of your labor! What fun would that be? You would begin to resent your job and only be living to work rather than working to live! You need to have a savings plan, but don't save the max until you're in your late 50s, then sock away the max! I did it this way, am very well traveled, paid off my house, paid cash for a car and still have a very nice nest egg stashed away!

@qdd+1lqjHrM3 "Ge-z did you live in your parents basement? A million"

It's called putting away the max of 16% (at the time) of every paycheck into your 401K from the beginning. The max is now much higher. Live on less than you make and avoid debt. It's so simple.

“Directors are not a decision maker. I would not worry about any director meetings.”

The first thing they do when you become a director is tell you to STFU. So when your direct reports ask, “There’s rumblings about a layoff…” a director does the “hot sand dance” and says, “We’ve been having some really great results, I don’t see a need for any changes.” But secretly they have “the spreadsheet” which is the top secret spreadsheet where you rank every employee, putting the ones to let go on the bottom. Then HR processes the spreadsheet and sends out notes. Then the director says to the impacted folks, “I told the darn HR folks, you each are the best of the best, but they analyzed the algorithms and they picked you for surplus.” HR doesn’t pick the surplus, your lying director did. Good luck.

Yep. Expect an announcement that the next surplus will impact your group (or whatever new sterilized way T uses of saying some of you will be laid off).

Directors don't make the decisions, but they are the ones delivering the news.

But then again, this is T, so everyone should be on notice. At least every L 1-3 employee.

Don’t know what reports are being generated but had a job that if your people didn’t sign into their phone by a certain time you would get a call by some group for verification. If it happened a certain amount of times in a specific timeframe you were getting that call from your AM.

"reports are being generated"
If you believe that, can I interest you in a bridge for sale?"

@ucd+1lqjHrM3 - If you don't believe it honey you already bought the bridge!

Everytime you scan an ID to both enter and exit a building - it hits a report. In ABS we were told 4Q last year to go to the office at a minimum 2 times a week and make sure we scan in and out because leadership would be checking!

“ 25+ years with AT&T means you should have at least a cool million bucks in retirement unless you have misplaced priorities. Just saying...”

Ge-z did you live in your parents basement? A million ? I’ve been with company for 25 years and only got 360k. Not all people can afford to invest a lot. All that is gonna be gone in 4 years unless I find a job that pays same as I was making.

I’ve been in office since October of 2022. So has nothing to do with it. Our jobs are in trouble due to automation. We are hardly getting any work.

Stankey will end telecommuting. The only approved exception will be a documented medical condition.

everyone should have been going into the office 2-3 times per week for the past 18 months. If you have not, you are going to be targeted for next round of layoffs. Reports are being generated.

Depending what group you’re in……. It’s probably about returning to the office. They are getting rid of Flex and TW will only be with medical clearance. We had ours yesterday, Stank is on the war path.

"Directors are not a decision maker. I would not worry about any director meetings"

My last layoff call in 2020 was done by our director. Luckily I was able to land into a job and not sent packing, back then we had 60 days now it's only 14. Not sure how long I'll last before I get on another call.

Our group is in complete chaos since 2/17. This is the aftermath stuff that I don’t think gets fully taken into account at the C suite level.

Yep same for our group! Our whole department has a last minute meeting with our director tomorrow. Our work load has been automated for two weeks, which had been in the works for a long time behind the scenes. So there are rumors or speculation that we are going to be out of job. Not looking good for us. Not eligible for retirement and all I’ve known my 25+ years is AT&T. I have no idea where to begin if I lose my job.
