The number 1 career move

they all had one thing in common: They quit their mid- to late-career jobs, saying they felt it was the only way they could truly succeed and build wealth

So sad to see all those folks who did not cut it at Exxon, still trolling the XOM board because they can not let go, pretending that they are successful elsewhere…. Move on!

Or… you can hold on - invest all your time and energy, sacrifice your health and well being hoping that maybe, the harder you work, the more likely you’ll be noticed. But then one day, much to your shock and despair - you realize, you’ve been on a slow ride to the bottom!

You hit 50+ and are handed an NSI. They don’t expect you’ll take it because those golden handcuffs to the pension are SO tight and SHINY!!!! ✨

Hopefully, you value yourself more than ExxonMobil does and the handcuffs don’t hold you back from achieving your TRUE potential. There is a huge amount of money to be made outside of EM, you’ve just got to go for it. Apply all those principles about innovation and communication and value-gen.

Word of advice: if you are not rotating jobs, and getting CL bumps every few years, GET OUT sooner than later. If it feels like your career has plateaued- it HAS and is very unlikely to budge regardless of what you do. I had no idea I was so undervalued until I finally had the courage of conviction to LEAVE!!

Worked for me. I worked for 8 different O&G companies during my +35 years in the oilfield. I finally retired a multi millionaire, financially independent, surrounded by love. Lucky me.

Working for only one company would have been so career limiting.

Be in charge of your own career. And, NEVER stop looking for the next job.
