Agile teams need to RTO 1x/week

Just heard from my manager. No more 1x/month for agile teams. Tech.

You need to read the tech home page more as this was posted by Sauls' communication dir, very quietly, about a month ago. It clearly states how many days agile and non-agile workers need to be in the office. And it's more than one day a week, buttercup. But show up 1 day a week, that way when it comes to letting people go, well you swiped in one day a week compared to others, so bye. Remember, your manager for the most part has zero say in regard to who they decide to layoff, and they are now going to use swipes and ip's. This is all taken care of by a third party, saves WF's bu-t.

I’d RTO if I could, but when we went remote due to COVID, they subsequently shut my hub down. So, no O to RT. They won’t wear me out. I’ll hang in there for my well earned 34 weeks severance + 60 day non-working notice. Fu-k ‘em.

Would it be stupid enough to convince you to look for a new job elsewhere? That's EXACTLY why they are doing it.

@1ifa+1lr6e6No are you saying that on top of my normal work hours 7 to 4 on yhe 4 nights that i need to work nights TOO...you expect my as* to go in those two nights in the office starting our deployments at 6 pm that usually run until 2 or 3 in the fcking morning??? Clearly you arent in technology or so many levels up you are clueless. Sht i might as well just sleep in the office for half the week to save commute time....

@1ifa I'm not @ikv but I'll give you an example.

I'm not in a hub for tech so my job is listed at the local branch that closes at 6pm, yet I'm doing work on production servers after those hours. Why force me to a location that's closed, with nobody else in it, just to be able to say I went into an office?

The bank would honestly increase the risk to the branch and spend more money maintaining a presence in the building off-hours than leaving it dark and having me work from home.

Your straw man argument of avoiding rush hour makes no difference to my situation. It's not even relevant to the realities of many tech employees' situations.

The purpose of RTO is only to annoy people to the point that they will voluntarily leave without getting a severance. That's the whole, and only, point of it. It makes perfect 'sense' in that way.

FRTO.

I’ll believe it when Saul takes a sip of his coffee and says those words. Until then, it’s ceremonies only.

@ikv+1lr6e6No Serious question, Why? I suppose to be blunt the real question is why do those parameters allow extra leniency beyond the 2/3 schedule? To me, if anything, a “crazy” schedule/nights would likely be a benefit as far as commutes are concerned by avoiding rush hours making the 2/3 easy enough already. To be clear I’m not debating the reasoning of RTO as a whole, just your specific statement.
