Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Do recent hires receive a severance package when they are laid off?

Does anybody know what's Ford's policy on this? I'm asking about employees who have been here for under a year.

I'm kind of sick if the people saying 'you would know this if you worked at Ford'. This site doesn't have any requirement that you work for any company. Half of the people on this Ford forum have never worked here and just complain about the company. And they're more than welcome. In fact, all the rest of the crowd loves it when someone say something negative about Ford - and never asks if the poster actually works here. But ask a question? And everyone clutches their pearls...

These layoffs will be different. Ford doesn't want to pay through the nose and impact their bottom line like they did with the SIRP process in 2022. So it's PEPs for everyone, and then "for cause" firings. Which means no severance. No matter how many years of service you have.

But hey, Farley appreciates us! I have a video in my email this morning saying so!

It has been my experience that you get a month per year of service, after a determined number of years. I can't see any company giving severance to any employee who doesn't even have a year in, I know GM didn't.

The reductions are not LAYOFF's....they are termination of employment! There is a huge difference in the terms.

Nope - suggest you go to Life@Ford and read the policy. Plus if you are that worried about being let go, just start the process now and start getting your sh-t together.

For instance, instead of planning that vacation this spring/summer, just do staycations or local places of internet & save the money. Don’t buy any big ticket items: no cars, boats, houses. Stop going out to eat so much or buying premade/pre packaged food. Stop going to Starbucks and instead buy yourself an inexpensive latte/cappuccino machine (Kurieg makes one for under $200 and it does a good enough job) - it will pay for itself the first month.

Make sure you have all your Ford information documented and off loaded someplace other than your work PC - examples of your work, kudos from leadership and customers, etc. Don’t forget to get things such as your paystubs, last couple W-2’s, all your insurance info, etc.

I learned all of the above after I went through SIRP last year. I was able to get most things but not good work examples….this hurt me a bit when it came time to look for a job.

Doing all the above doesn’t make it easier, but it does make it less stressful.

Nope, myself and many others impacted by the August cuts had less than a year of service. Many only had a few months and were cut to avoid aged based discrimination lawsuits.

They may be considering a job offer, which they would be wise to decline.

That info is available on the HR site. You should know if you work at Ford.
