What do you really expect him to say?

He outlined a plan to make the company more competitive, COVID hit, entity list, Russia did its once-a-decade shpiel of terrorizing a smaller country, cheap capital vaporized.

Against the backdrop of a 15 years of such astounding ineptitude that future b-school students will read it as a case study WHILE the competition was also executing to near-perfection.

Pat’s the figurehead as CEO, so this all comes with the territory, but most execs have been flying blind for the better part of three years (illustrating, to a large degree, the true lack of value they bring relative their compensation packages).

He is more likely to be a weak man lured onto a sinking ship and told to hold on as long as he doesn't rock the ship: same IDM, same "foundry", same DEI, tiny layoff, no split.

Lying is his only tool. His prayer is for the global tide to right the ship. What good is to admit defeat, for anyone?
