Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Does this bother anybody else?

It seems hard to find anybody under the age of 30 who is truly dedicated to their work. The majority of new employees are only willing to work during their official hours and seem completely unwilling to put in any extra effort or time. This is true even when there are pressing deadlines or time-sensitive projects. We need more engaged and dedicated employees if we want to remain competitive in today's environment.

The bank is fillled with incompetent dead weights which surprises no one. You get what you pay for. I have literally spent time on screenshares telling people exactly what to type.

The extra time and effort you desire is now spent commuting to an office where I'm the only person on my team. They want me there for "the culture" but so far all they have done is forfeit 3 to 4 hours of my day that I now spend on said commute. They put an extra $65/week obligation on me for gas on top of that, then gave me zero raise for a meets and a 2% bonus, and you think I'm the one who's wrong by not giving you extra effort? You should do stand-up.

Maybe instead of being bitter, be thankful. Enjoy the new norms they are demanding. If you’re so dedicated and awesome then you can bust your a$$ and shine above the rest. Who knows, maybe it will land you a promotion. Maybe it won’t and you’ll remain bitter. Either way, Mind your own business.

Ha! Guess you haven’t been in the office and noticed the suits walking out the door between 12-1pm every day?! Yea.. they’re pretending that they work from the office. Doubt they get home and online in the time they get for lunch. Laughable.

And please keep in mind- many are aid hourly and get cr$p from leaders if they clock overtime.

OP, it sure sounds like you enjoy the taste of that boot.

  1. BofA pays poorly, this is especially true when compared to other major banks
  2. Unions and pensions are no longer a thing in the US (the way it was in the 50s) so there is no incentive for a good employee to stay indefinitely in a job.
  3. BofA decided to take a hardline approach to WFH and demanded everyone to come in
  4. CEOs nowadays get paid 300x more than the average worker and they put the needs of the C-suite and shareholders above those of the employees
  5. Wages have not kept up with cost of living so people that are motivated and good workers are always trying to jump ship to find a better paying job

TL;DR if the bank actually wanted to have good workers that stayed with the bank they would pay them more and have better benefits. We are in late stage capitalism, and it shows

If they paid a reasonable wage I would value my job, respect the company, and give it my all everyday to keep it.... but they don't. So they get what they pay for instead.

All the skilled, dedicated and faithful workers have been layed-off over the last 10 years since Warren Buffet and the deep state took hold of the company. It's all part of the Global Reset that's coming.

yea, maybe stop paying the top brass all the $$$. Why should anyone put in ANY extra effort. It's not like we're going to get paid more.

Tired of watching them give away the $$$ to their "causes" that the coulda/should paid us first..

Tired of their useless blather and words. I'm.just.done.

It's not like they're paying me $30 millon.

Times have changed (for the better) when it comes to what’s reasonable- people have young kids to get from daycares before they close, nobody can afford the late fees with that 1-2% raise. Plus, we worked tons of overtime from home, but that got us nowhere and you have baffoons on team calls talking about addressing folks who don’t come into the office… now have a commute that we know is pointless, so yea we’re going to get on the road when the clock strikes 5p. People have realized that the company gave us flexibility to work from home if that was our preference when it worked for them, but somehow we’re not capable of doing that now, so we couldn’t care less about giving them overtime.

Work overtime and on weekends? So that they can tell me that there aren’t enough Exceeds to go around and I didn’t get one? But I would have if it was up to them. Yeah bullsh-t.

Here’s your 1% annual increase and 2% bonus. I’ll see you on Monday.

We can't afford rent while working here so we go to our second job. The president of the United States can't read/talk/walk, the IRS can't count, and both of our direct reports can't speak our language. We are pushed to sell our technological replacements and get griped at from clients wanting a more personal experience(understandable). The world is backwards. Just my opinion, god bless.

The extra time I was willing to put in is now used up by commuting to and from the office. Sure, there might be occasional need for a quick task or two on the weekend or after hours but that is reserved for emergency/rare occasion only. I think you'll find most people work to live, not live to work and along the lines of that philosophy, I doubt you'll find many people that at the end of their life looking back will regret not working more hours or missing their kids ball game so some project deliverable gets completed quicker.

Because last year I put in extra time and work all year and got shafted with my bonus, meanwhile my boss’s Yes Man got promoted.

When you are not incentivized to work harder why would you. Every year it’s the same story. Record year bonuses cut. Only the top 50 employees and board get paid.

Working harder or caring more won't shield you from a layoff or affect your bonus or raises. Those things are decided independent of those factors. Don't do anything more then the bare minimum to meet expectations

They need to pay more if they want associates to put in extra effort.

I noticed that also but figure that it's not my company so why should I care if they don't? Either way no matter what I do they would lay me off in a minute and not think twice about it.
