@2eku
"the tracking software on your laptops and phones. They know when you're working "
Doubtful this is the case, otherwise I would have been terminated a long time ago ;-)
They’re not just targeting pensioners. They’re also targeting all the “work from home backyard pool” people they have listed on the productivity reports they got from the software they pushed to everyone’s laptops during Covid that’s still on your computer. It’s not MS Teams they use to track you but the tracking software on your laptops and phones. They know when your working and where your working from and it’s not through MS Teams.
That is what happens at the end when your future plans are to sell $60K plus station wagons that only Mary Barra and her friends will buy. If their board had any brains they would of never been in this position...
I think it's terrible that they're only offering this to the 'majority' employees.... How does that make the minority employees feel?! And this is only one day after national women's day!
I work for GM. Voluntary 500 seems like what you'd typically lose thru attrition. Something really stinks for it to make national news. Impending recession, new cars are unobtanium for most people due to logistics problems, and not to mention interest rates are going up. I'm getting a GM 2019 vibe. Even if it's only 1/2 of 2019 - that still a staggering number of people.
Holy cr-p! With all the layoff in general and in the auto industry in particular, I am actually so thankful I got SIRP’d last year. I have a job now; I’d hate to be looking in this job market at the moment.
Good luck to all the GM, Ford, and FSA that get let go this year. God speed!!
this will take care of the border issue.
can you imagine what a border family expects in pay?
thanks, gm n ford n tassla.
This is a good strategy for GM. They surely are targeting anyone working in the legacy ICE related products so that they are competitive for staffing the BEV business. They then can add additional resources for BEV programs where they are needed.
Ford should consider a plan like this to reduce Ford Blue as that business is now in sunset mode. Then we can build up Model e with the best outside high tech talent to grow the new business model for Ford.
12 months offer and all pensioners will be gone.
9 months offer will not make sense. it is The same as involuntary separation package.
Ford will follow suit and offer buyouts.
This is a strategy the Big3 are doing to be in better position when it comes to union contract negotiations later this year. They really want to reduce Union labor and for that to happen they need to show salaried workforce is getting cut too. Basically, they’re ki-ling 2birds with one stone.
Ford might make one last push to get rid of the pension eligible. It won't be as generous as GM's up to 12 months. But for the most part, Ford already has the quarterly firing process in place.
Up to 12 month’s severance. They really want employees to go. Maybe their retirees who couldn’t retire last Nov or weren’t going to take the lump so are going to take the offer now.
Don't expect Ford to be so generous.
Oh you can count oh Ford following suit. They are the Me Too company.
Can we get the same offer?
