Before, I used to feel a sense of accomplishment in my work. I was confident in my abilities and consistently performed at a high level. But due to the many, many reorganizations over the years, my job responsibilities have changed so much to the point where I no longer have a clear understanding of what tasks I am expected to carry out. It's tiring.

@6ftw: While you focus on the “tens of thousands” of tech workers who have been let go, please continue to ignore the 828,000 new jobs that were created in January and February alone according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. I mean, things are “so bad” that the BLS website also says “Recent layoffs in the tech sector account for a modest 0.2% of the total tech workforce of 5.5 million” and “The unemployment rate for tech occupations is still below the national rate of 3.8%”. For good measure they added “While there have been highly publicized layoffs among tech companies, the vast majority of employees being fired are not in IT positions.” Who knew that tech companies also employ the same administrative and operations personnel needed to run ANY company! And the final BLS nail in your argument? “There remains a dearth of tech talent to fill nearly 200,000 IT job openings.”

Here’s the deal: If you have marketable skills and can’t find a new job in this economy, that’s a personal problem. What you presented here was a well-worn excuse you keep telling yourself to justify your own lack of any desire to look for a new job. Because that might be uncomfortable and it might actually require you to do something.

Yes. Let me just go grab a job from the jobby tree. US unemployment numbers have never been lower right? Please continue to ignore then tens of thousands of tech workers that have been and continue to be laid off this year.
I found a job years ago when the government was handing out 0% interest loans to anyone with a pulse.
Why would it be harder today when things are so bad that banks are starting to collapse?
Oh my god that is so spot on. I feel the exact same way. They tell you learn this and then don’t tell you why and then you never do anything with it. It becomes someone’s else’s responsibility. I’m so over this place and the constant flux. It’s exhausting!
People keep downvoting those who suggest OP find another job but I’m not sure why. If anyone at Nike is so unhappy with their job that they feel a need to publicly declare their unhappiness, that’s a good sign that it’s time to move onto something else.
I was unhappy with my role at Nike 3 years ago so I did something about it. I found a different job then left Nike. It was a tough decision to make because having spent nearly a decade at Nike I had placed so much of my identity in my job and in working for the company. Little did I know that it would only take a couple days to completely shed that identity while embracing my new job. My stress levels quickly dropped and it felt liberating to no longer work for a place where the company spends so much time & effort marketing itself to its own employees. In retrospect working at Nike was weird and not really in a good way. Any employer that has to keep selling you nonstop on the idea that it’s “special”…probably isn’t.
You should seriously consider a change of employment scenery OP. It’s a beautiful world outside the berm.

If you’re really that unhappy, you have the option to leave and find employment elsewhere.
You always have a choice to stay or go. There's a growing pool of laid off job seekers hustling to find their next role, wishing they were you.
This has been happening since 2015. You're just now complaining about it?
Is a failure at the highest level to move teams and people around constantly but not communicate who is responsible for what. Teams burn more time trying to figure out who is supposed to do something than doing work. Also, it allows teams that are not collaborative and working in the best interest of all, to continue their bad behavior (not fix stuff) regardless of the cost to the organization as a whole.

Yeah. But if we’re not constantly shuffling heads around how am I supposed to replace the old leadership with my crew?
And if I don’t have a crew how am I supposed to steal from the company without getting caught? …for a few years at least
