My team is hiring actively but I was let go. Feels like a real lack of leadership and accountability. If you are managing your business, why hire and layoff your team. If they were underperforming maybe but if you give them a meets in your review then let them go while hiring off the street. Leadership is the problem here.

i have never seen a US companyy with so many middle management and offshore employees.

If you were laid off and your last day was today, please go file for unemployment right away. I learned that when unemployment pays out, it's not based on your last day of work, but the day you called the unemployment office to file a claim. I know many of you are reeling from the news and are in no mood to be on hold with the unemployment hotline, but get all the money you are rightfully owed.
Now they can hire more offshore.
All- if you got noticed please do not beat yourself up over whether you have done a good job. Its politically driven decision - high salry/long tenure, your boss has his/her own "favorites" may not be high performers. etc. It goes on and on. Just dust off your resume and never give up.
Market may not be good, what comes down must come back up. Same as your employer who has been riding high with M&A now being investigated by the Congress for unethic conduct. At least, you can look in the mirror its not you who conduct business lack of integrity. Best of luck everyone and you will find a good or better future!
Your employer will only have till March 15 to respond to documentation requested by the Congress. Being an insider, good luck with producing those to meet the requirements. Big fines are coming hence the reactive resulted in many lay-offs!

Just had 2 people let go from our team of about half-a-dozen people at Optum Serve. We were already understaffed and looking for people. Both were solid workers that had pretty good performance reviews, too.
That’s True. One of t he software engineer, who recently joined Optum couple of weeks ago let go.
They director reached out to him by scheduling a teams meeting captioned - urgent and important
So sad, why did you hire when you have to fire within weeks.. lol
