I'm not too worried about layoffs in Europe. The more cost savings are achieved through those cuts (and those will be substantial savings since this is not India we're talking about) the need for layoffs in the US reduces. I'm not wishing layoffs on anybody, but I'll say it again, better them than us. This is an American company, after all.

Europe got what they deserved. The insane vacations and the cradle to grave support needed by German workers may have helped initially but companies are pulling out and taking huge $$ hits just to get out of the horrible contracts.
Homes for sale in Ann Arbor, mi set to dramatically drop off a cliff. Automotive, and high tech layoffs have begun.

I left Ford last year. After watching the video of the dog and pony show JF demonstrated with high level management prior to my decision, I saw the writing on the wall, sort of speak. But, from some of the things I read here along with employee animosity, it looks to me like Ford is being destroyed from the inside out. I somehow think that may have been their plan all along.
It persuaded ME to leave.

@OP. Europe is just the starter, we are the main dish. We'll all end swallowed by the greed and ineptitude of the Ford family.
The money saved by cuts in Europe will not offset any layoffs in North America. The budgets are different and Ford Europe and Ford NA are separate entities. You need to be realistic and prepare yourself for 25% NA salaried cuts.
It's great that the company is sending engineering jobs to countries where it does not make\sell vehicles in a profitable volume and places run by despots and narcos.

I don’t care what part of the world receives personnel reductions; it’s all bad. We are poised to walk away from the EU market which took 80 years to build and leadership single handily destroyed it in 20 years. It’s an embarrassment how many markets inept leadership has destroyed at this company.
The amount of people that refuse to come into the offices without being a "fully remote" employee is insane. The cuts should start with them first. They're only causing strain on those that are in the office.
