Thread regarding Ford layoffs

There go 4,900 in Europe, just wait for UAW contract negotiations, US will lose many

From the Free Ford Press:

Ford Spain informed its union partners Friday that it plans to cut approximately 1,100 jobs at its Valencia plant because of changes to the vehicle lineup announced in 2022, the automaker confirmed.

The automaker had previously disclosed it would end production of the S-Max and Galaxy in April 2023. A combination of discontinuing products, forecasted lower sales in Europe, a need to increase efficiency and a shift to electric vehicles, require workforce adjustment, Ford spokesman Ian Thibodeau told the Detroit Free Press.

The S-Max went on sale in June 2006, the Galaxy in 1995. Neither is sold in the U.S.

Production of the Ford Galaxy is being discontinued at the Valencia, Spain plant in April. On Friday, March 10, 2023, Ford Spain announced approximately 1,100 job cuts.
The Valencia plant will produce passenger vehicles based on the next-generation electric vehicle architecture, Thibodeau said.

"Ford is taking another step in its European transformation by announcing plans to resize its workforce," Thibodeau said. "Ford will work constructively with its union partners to reduce the impact of the separations on employees, their families, and the local community.

In mid-February, Ford Europe announced plans to slash 3,800 hourly and salaried jobs in Europe over three years, eliminating mostly people who work in product development, as the automaker pivots from gas-powered to electric vehicles (EVs).

This is the latest move that reflects Ford's talent transition from internal combustion engines to EVs and technology. In the near term, gas-powered vehicles subsidize electric vehicles that are not yet profitable.

Because the transition to EVs is poorly conceived and timed, the UAW has plenty of leverage heading into this contract negotiation. Ford will not get the concessions they want.

Ann Arbor real estate has been riding high for too long. Wait for it..............more bank failures, Automotive, and high tech layoffs have begun.

Ford will be toast by the end of 2024. Time to get off the bus Gus.

All that property the Ford family owns between detroit to jackson soon going up for sale.

What they call Ford European Transformation may be just one more step in vanishing, from being among the leaders to irrelevance. I do not see any return to old strength here in Europe. Maybe pick an able CEO who sees chances in being a global company instead of first neglecting and then trying to get rid of everything beyond FNA.

AICP and Merritt increases are supposed to be pretty decent for salary. Probably so they can raise it enough to convince people to voluntarily separate when they announce that again..

@cxz+1lzF07ag The goal is to skeletonize PDC and VOGO. The Glass House will still be chock-full-o-nuts.

Ford Transformation is another example of the unethical nature of the Ford family's greed. Ford announced in 2013 at a NAIAS keynote of investment in EVs, lol that never materialized. Ford has gone through 3 CEOs in less than a decade while others maintain focus, strategy and flawless execution. Ford looses billions while other OEMs have billions in profit. EV is a smokescreen to target and eliminate older pensioned workers, to bloat the stock value ( which isn't working! ) and to ' clean house ' as neportism is the norm enabling all the fakes brought in to bring in more fakes.
Wall Street and shareholders are not happy with Farley, they did the research on fakes like Doug Field and have no confidence. We are not Tesla, all in on EV is NOT the strategy of successful OEMs. GM and Toyota are the leaders. Our leadership continues to fail us in developing mobility business. Hackett failed with his Ford Smart Mobility and Connected Cities endeavors. Ford Next continues to FAIL. All eyes are on Bill Ford, he has very little time to right the wrongs. Terminate Farley for starters, a monkey can do a better job at this point.

Stop seeing the negative. This is clear evidence of the Ford+ total company transformational plan seeing through. Model e BEV products will displace ICE vehicles. With this, as anyone can clearly see from Tesla, you do not need bloated plant personnel to build vehicles. The future of mobility is here and it means more streamlined plants, less things to go wrong, improved sustainability, increased profitability, and I could go on and on. You get the picture.

But Bill loves the UAW! It speaks to his Ann Arbor friends' woke sensitivities!

No, there will be no UAW layoffs. Just more US based salary reductions. Goal is skeleton crew in glass house, all other salaried in Mexico, Brazil and India.
