Numb to recalls at Ford

Just another day for the Farley clown show.

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2023 Ford F-150, Ford Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator models over a front axle pinion issue.

The defect: in affected vehicles, the front axle pinion may not have been heat-treated, which can cause it to fracture.

The hazards: a fractured pinion can result in a loss of four-wheel drive and may cause the front wheels to lock up, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition.

Components: front axle pinion gear set

Affected vehicles: select 2023 F-150 pickups produced between January 15th, 2023 and January 24th, 2023, Expedition SUVs built between January 15th, 2023 and January 26th, 2023, and Navigator models produced between January 12th, 2023, and January 20th, 2023.

Same issue applies to the Explorer Rear Toe Links for the past four years, two recalls and they cannot get ti right. A simple suspension part, WTF. Proves the companies diligence for quality has vanished. The last Customer Quality initiative is a joke.

@kqa+1lzr5Qh6 I agree with you 100%. The company has a CEO who claims we have 25% more engineers than we need. But he is a marketing guy and not a good one at that. In fact we lost market share, we left car segments under his reign. So what qualifies him as an expert on engineering?
The engineer does not control the content in the vehicle. They sure do not control the complexity in the vehicle. That is driven by Marketing.
Then there is BF. Yeah the GENE POOL did him a big favor. Because he has demonstrated over and over again he is in over his head. Last week the WS Journal came right out and stated the only qualification he has (also two other family members) is the name on the side of the building.

You would think with all the management on Beck Road, they'd have a nicer road.

And you will see more and more of this. Ford hates engineering. Ever since I started engineering has had less and less of a voice. Senior leadership destroyed so many career development paths. Less focused on the details and more on the high level d-mbed down systems view. As opposed to being the brakes engineer you are now the brakes “and” the suspension engineer for example. The so called engineering leadership just rolled over every time a head count reduction was requested; they don’t care as long as they keep that big house on Beck Rd. People have no clue what is going on engineering. The number of misses is astounding because there is not enough people to pay attention to every detail.
