Exxon came to Moncton around 1998. Used to employ nearly 1200 people in both cities around 2006-2012. In 2013 they closed the Saint John office. In 2014 they closed the IT dept. In 2015-2016 they moved a ton of jobs to India. And now in 2021 outsourcing 400-500 jobs to a 3rd party company. There will be roughly 200 jobs left in the Chemicals department. Exxonmobil is cutting jobs globally, not just Moncton. Big oil is not what it used to be, and that isn't a bad thing but its sad for our local economy and for the folks who have worked there so long.

According to Reddit, we only have 200 people left in Montcon. Most have been laid off, quit, retired or transferred to HCL Tech.

Check out Indeed for a comparison of ExxonMobil and HCLTech.

They’ve been exiting Moncton for probably a decade now. First, EMIT helpdesk was sent out, then customer support was outsourced (along with its employees) to a 3rd party. To be honest every sign points to last person left turning off the lights at the 95 Foundry office when they either retire or their job is offshored somewhere else.
