Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Economic climate of michigan

Pretty dreary…. Besides giving away $680k per job, how can michigan fix its attractiveness for new business and residents and young kids to stay

Why aren't comments regarding "angry white men" removed? A lot of hate on display but the moderators side with this garbage. Maybe they could explain themselves or their motivations?

We need to ELIMINATE existing student loan debt!

And LOWER housing costs!

That will allow the millennials to participate home ownership. And have money to buy vehicles!

Yeah! Go woke go broke!

We boycotted the NFL and Gilette and Budweiser! And we absolutely destroyed those companies! When is the last time you ever heard of NFL, Gilette, or Budweiser?!

Michigan is doing better than ever before. It is great that new factories are being built. I just wish it wasn't with China.

All of the companies and investors buying up property and driving up home prices have ruined this state.

All the giant companies making more profit than ever before - and continuing to gouge consumers - have ruined this state. And if you say that companies and wealthy should be taxed fairly - people say you're a socialist. All I know is that gas and eggs should not cost this much. And it isn't because of Grandpa Joe.

Hey @2uqx+1m44jOZQ

Don't you dare speak for me!!

Many of us spend hours and hours each day - between 8am and 5pm - on this site fighting the good fight.

Many of us have felt this way since being let go back in 2008 - and we still make it our mission to talk about Ford each and every day ever since 2008!

@2hvl+1m44jOZQ You seem to be doing a great job of judging me. Projection does not serve you well.

@2hvl+1m44jOZQ is right!

Ford needs to stop judging us white men - we have been running this company for over 100 years!

I don't think there is anything that can be done. our State Government is terrible and People re elected a control freak Governor. She is worst than Granholm and I left the state during Granholm era because there was no jobs. Came back after she left only because of family that lives here and did find a job once the government was more business friendly and not controlling tyrants.

And what are you doing to stop all this DEI and CRT in our schools and work place?

It will never change if you allow it to continue.

The truth is the leadership embracing CRT is ki-ling this and many other companies.

This thread is the perfect example of Ford today. A bunch of angry white men who feel like they are losing seats at the table because they have to be equitable with colleagues of color and different genders.

They are not long for this company. They are being replaced by much younger and diverse talant that will build this company back up to the top.

OP here again. This post is related to jobs in michigan, the economy, and that is aligned with Ford layoffs or should fords future turn around, future hiring in SE michigan.
Michigan.
Michigan economy is important to us.
Not Silicon Valley, where Ford has tried to have a presence.
Not Atlanta, where Ford has tried to align to pure DEI motives.
Not Brazil, Mexico, India, China.

Ford has spread out so far and wide, then trying to pull people back into Dearborn offices, it has really deteriorated the cohesiveness and function of a team.
From a 2022 November retiree.

OP here…. I am genuinely looking for constructive comments and feedback, to keep the outlook hopeful for our kids and grandkids as they grow up and we hope they can stay in michigan to live, work, enjoy life, and be nearby in our old age.

Every governor has stated the desire to diversify our states economy to other areas than auto.

Tourism is great and I’ve seen expansion of health care and hospitals in west michigan the last 30 yrs.

Keep the conversation flowing, thanks
