Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Working from home was a blessing

Been with the company for 10 years. Working from home was a blessing. Working in a center were people were loud, wore clothes they should not be wearing and had terrible hygiene was just disgusting. Customers asking if there was a party going on was sad. What needs to happen is to have someone from Verizon do a random home visit. If you do not have a room dedicated to work, you gotta go. Working from home does not mean you are taking care of personal things while on the clock. If you are developing then you gotta go.
I have an office in my home and from 9 am to 5pm I do what I get paid for.

I couldn't agree more, @2zsd+1lLBwKMo.

It has been a party for many of you all, certainly not for me. All 'n all, I'm tired to talk to my boss and constantly hearing background noises, street life, cars beeping and voice breaking up, water running, slamming door, dogs barking and being put o mute while I'm talking and/or making my case. A circus to say the least. This is not only a joke, it's unprofessional, it's annoying, it's disrespectful and people is abusing it.

Lol I love that my comment got removed probably because it was the truth. So I will ask again. Will we continue to hear roosters, tv and etc from the SPC centers and are they going to make sure corp people don’t abuse the system by trading “favors” for off the phone time?

We're getting a new work from home program...
We send the US based reps home permanently and give their jobs to overseas reps at one tenth to salary.
It's a win win... all the whiners get to stay home and we save all sorts of money!

I expect RTO is just another legal way to weed out more people like other efforts to require directors to co-locate with their VPs (that got rid of some directors), moving jobs to centers of excellence (you don't want to go to FL/OK/NJ, then see ya - that got rid of some old timers who didn't want to move), etc.

As a rep in a store having to call into support, the support has gotten awful with people working from home. No accountability. Also more often than not I hear kids in the background, TVs, radios or even doing dishes. This lack of quality has driven stores to be more service based. Many things were only customer service tasks are being pushed to the stores. But they are not giving us more staff either. People got lazy working from home and the stores are being punished.

Everyone doesn't have the space for a "home office." Why should it matter if I switch from my dining table to my sofa, or even bedroom, as long as my work is getting done? You boomers ki-l me while sitting in a home office in a house you paid <$350K for. Get a grip!

They won’t RTO VGS because they just want to eekpmus remote as they outsource us group by group person by person. Tis what VGS be for.

RTO or resign. Remote work is not efficient or productive.

Is care being forced to RTO? They were the most committed to remote when it first launched and went all in on it.

Working from home is still a blessing for many workgroups. Not all leaders are requiring employees to RTO even though the directive is coming from above.

The world we live nowadays is just about what is published for bait clicks and add revenue. Companies do not hire based on merits anymore, at least big companies tha are forced somehow by ideologies their leadership has no common sense. Wait until they publish that companie that allows its employees continue the WFH are about 50 percent more efficient and productive...then our so called leaders will start thinking again.....in the mean time...no more checking emails or responding to calls before and after hours....welcome back to the past

There are more pros than cons in working from home. Employees aren't spending upwards of 2 hours of their day commuting. They may use that extra time to work, exercise, family time, school, etc. Additionally, employees that work from home are always connected to work, so they can easily monitor any issues or resolve any emergencies.

But the big cities/towns where they used to work are losing A LOT of money. They don't get to collect their city wage tax. Parking garages, transportation (trains/busses), etc are losing money. Restaurants/Food trucks losing money. A lot of folks moved out of the cities and into the suburbs.

I don't think RTO is about VZ not trusting its employees who are working from home.

I think it is because the big cities/towns are pressuring VZ to bring employees back into the office because the big cities/towns are losing a lot of money.
