Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Tripsource OBT

Did anyone else participate in the training for Tripsource OBT just now? Seems the new cost savings policy is that we have to pick the lowest cost travel option regardless of timing or location requirements. Even one dollar of fare “missed savings “ is out of policy and requires supervisory approval, even if the overall booking is cheaper.

What is happening to this once proud company? We are spending hundreds of dollars in lost productivity to justify a dollar or two expense delta. 🤦🤦

HR sets & owns policies. The tool being used doesn't make a difference.

The travel guidelines don't require supervisory approval for $1 of missed savings. Guess you were too busy whining to listen during the training. Be happy you get to travel at all.

If you ever need to do something "out of policy" travelwise you can just say "the bcd tool was down/broken/not responding/wouldn't take my credit card/didn't book me" and there will be no questions asked.

Everyone understands how much the tool sucks.

“What is happening to this once proud company?”

A better question to ask would be why any company would require white-collar workers to travel to begin with. If you aren’t some sort of an executive the “face time” has no added value.

Sounds like more antiquated practices by/for antiquated people.

My biggest problem is I can always find cheaper options via other travel sites. It just doesn’t make sense to get charged $20 for every email I send them when I can just handle the travel myself.

The current booking tool already does that today for flights. The 4-hour window logic is gone. Just look at the options and pick a flight that's reasonable cost / reasonable times. Most of the time the expense report autoapproves so no one even sees it. If your boss had to approve, just give them the details of our crazy system. Mine laughs at the stupidity of the system with me.

This is so out of context…

Is that correct? If it is, then why offer choices? Can't the tool just select the single cheapest offer?

Don’t travel. Easy.

Yeah because too many clowns kept picking out of policy hotels. Now if only they can clamp down on conferences attendance.

I dont get your point. Either you have a good reason to spend the extra money or you take the cheapest option. Stop wasting shareholder money…..
