shoulda been the other way around.
The H-1B employer must pay its H-1B worker(s) at least the “required” wage which is the higher of the prevailing wage or the employer’s actual wage (in-house wage) for similarly employed workers.
The prevailing wage is the wage rate set for the occupational classification in the geographical area of employment. ( MANY H1-Bs are getting paid much higher then long time USA citizens who have worked for the same company for over 10+ years. )

@1fjv - That’s not true at all. H1Bs are cheaper, HR is aware that they don’t negotiate salary well if nothing else. H1Bs also save Intel money on benefits. Functional companies don’t play these games with H1Bs.
The funny thing is that H1Bs are now making same or even more then what you make. Why? Because if you are an old timer, you are making less then new younger graduates. And for H1B, due to Trump's changes to the law, companies now have to pay the amount that similar companies with similar jobs salary that the surrounding community/region pays. Look at the prevailing wages on the job postings for H1B visa. The prevailing wage (which may be a range, therefore take the midpoint) and this is what an H1B visa holder that is hired will be making with all the same benefits that you get. Same thing is happening in my telecom company.
Where is the diversity in that?
Cancel 3rd world worker visas
Yup. I got replaced by green badges and H-1B's a few years ago, it's nothing new. Priot to that, I lost out on a promotion because the DEI manager at the time said it had to go to a diversity candidate.
Intel hires and promotes for the wrong reasons, it's one of the reasons why they fail.
Shameful. Also, tired of Indian friends and family hiring. The quality of talent has gotten really low, wives are hired as part of the diversity push.
The folks from ACT noticed the same thing a few years back. Layoffs will be a cyclical event as long as Intel uses H-1B recruitment as part of their Global Diversity hiring strategy. This should bar Intel from getting CHIPS Act taxpayer money.

Shameful.
