Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

BR Preallignment Discussions

BR is conducting these Preallignment discussions to rank people before final assessment meetings. Each department forces people in categories in small groups and then merges into a larger groups until they get to assessment where everyone is perfectly distributed and requires no more discussions. Assessment meeting becomes a formality. HR discourages this process and then shows a blind eye when it is done. So if your supervisor puts you at the bottom now, you will stay in the bottom always even if you are better than your peers in other departments. You never get a fair chance of relative comparison. So if your team is high performing you are doomed. Don't spend time writing PDSs, decisions are already made. Ask your supervisor where you are right now.

If ranking were completely based on performance, BTC would fill the bottom half.

There are a few good workers over there, but in most of my dealings with BTC I have to teach them what they should already know.

It seems like poor performance is acceptable from BTC staff because of low cost.

What dealings have you had with BTC in which you thought the performance was measurably better than you get within the USA?

This process of pre alignment is also followed in Global Projects. Very unfair.

This is generally true but requires context. Every department has to do this then typically the bottom exceeds the 13-18% distribution so SLS discuss which contributions are the most valuable, then move those folks up.

My last words to my 'boss' will be:
"Your parents, spouse and kids must be very proud of you."

Keep it positive.

I had a self serving power drunk manager last year and I don't care about this place or career anymore. I'm looking for something new.

I wonder what it’s like to be the rain maker. How do these managers sleep at night knowing how bad they treat folks then act like nothings wrong. Keeping score when someone brings attention to their ignorance and delivering the final blow waiting for ranking time in order get their vengeance.

@1rzh+1m9roMuL Sounds like my boss. She’s the worst I’ve ever had the misfortune to work with. Can’t wait till she moves on.

This happens to 80% of the workforce.

The other 20% are the self serving power drunk managers.
