DCAI layoffs

Any update from the DCAI group? I heard there e will be 9% headcount reduction.

PSG (FPGA division) is part of DCAI. It's been the only profitable group in all Intel for the last 6 quarters. This year PSG is on track to generate $3B with a HC of around 3000. That's a great ROI.

What exactly DCAI does still puzzles me. I mean they are neither a part of architecture (DAP), nor product design (DEG) nor validation (iVE). And there is SMG which sells the products? But seems like they have the upper hand in making decisions with tons of VP level folks.

HC needs to come down a lot more then 20% if the company is to survive... Delaying HC cuts hoping for rebound in PC demand or some kind of miracle ramp in IFS, while compassionate, is not advised as it pushes Intel into negative cash flow.

These cuts will eventually hit all biz units until the company is carved into pieces.

Up to 20% for some teams. 9 is average I guess. Cost is too high and margin is too low. Extra fat should be burned
