Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

This is not sustainable in the long term

I've been working here for a long time and I don't remember mediocrities ever having as much power here as they do now. It's horrible how incompetent some of these people are, especially considering the positions they hold. I'm interested whether the leadership thinks the current situation is sustainable? How much longer will the mediocrity be valued more than those who actually add value and will the leadership do something about it before this place sinks?

I agree with the person who said mediocrity starts with Brian's DRs. Most of them are untouchable and stayed in the same jobs surrounded by sycophant DRs who have been in the same jobs for ages too.

Not sure about the other comment on non English speaking mofos. Why would they be mofos just because they are non English speaking? This is a global bank and representation matters. We have businesses in Asia, emea and other places. There is a reason why tunnel visioned parochial people like you couldn't make it

It starts at the top with Brian's DRs - what a bunch of bozos. None of them (except Alastair) would ever make it to that level in any other organization.

The leadership team is a pathetic bunch of losers who are so insecure that they have tantrums and surround themselves with sycophants who tell them how great they are.

Managers see these leaders succeed and copy the bad behavior.

Surprised they have not blown themselves up yet. And somehow continue to report record profits. It's quite startling.

The very mediocre pay means you can be mediocre and still keep your job. They also haven't done massive layoffs like at other companies. Be glad with what you have. Or go somewhere with smarter people and be prepared to work.

Senior leadership is where you find the heaviest dose of incompetence. That kind of worthlessness trickles down. And it impacts those of us who would like to improve things.

You're blaming the rank and file employees for incompetence and mediocrity. This condition persists only when you have and ineffective, self serving, incompetent leadership team. They cannot provide any real direction or the ability to actually manage performance and keep employees engaged and productive. We have a real problem with how managers are selected and promoted in this company and how they do not actually manage.

I have been seeing the mediocre leadership in this company for years. I have worked at other large companies before and the leadership was sharp and respected . The leadership here is very poor and there are too many mofos in positions that have no business being there. I know this company tries to be diverse but damn! PLEASE STOP putting non-English speaking mofos in leadership positions.

I understand your frustration. As one of the mediocre people here is my advice and perspective.

You do not get paid more for doing more work. This is just a fact you will come to learn in time. Be mediocre. Do the bare minimum, because that is what they are going to pay you.
