Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Never seen it this bad - whats reallly going on?

I am here 9 years now and I've never seen things this bad. There are emerging trends which I'm sure concern all of us. First they got rid of all the region presidents - remember that? Then they had the VSP - loss of much institutional knowledge! Then Covid hit - VZ pushed into the only alternative , let people work from home, Now we have a workforce where some people are working second jobs while on the vZ payroll! I know I can call my manager here in the south and he is out doing yardwork - bottom line not good for big red. The retail channel is shrinking a day at a time, and leases are not being renewed - we have major commercial buildings laying there empty - yet staffed with people to maintain them - really. This months trend - 3 VPs gone. Major increased churn, the failure of AOL/Go90/ Yahoo/Skyward and more. I am not sure what t make of all of this - I am still hopeful that VZ has a master plan and that we are not just floundering. But as i sit here I'm holding on to my life jacket.

Can't wait for the business school case studies about the failures of Verizon beginning with Lowell and continuing on through the present.

I am sure eventually we can add Bluejeans to this list long of failures. VZ needs to stop thinking of themselves as a Premium provider. It is not. Consumers don't care about 5G or 6G. They can't tell it from LTE. Let's be honest, VZ is not that good at that right now. Also, instead of invested in a premium spectrum for the masses, VZ built UWB for stadium and airports ... WTF? Meanwhile, Tmo are now on airplanes and ki-ling it internationally. VZ continues to mess around with these science projects. You can't make this stuff up. We have access to Harvard Business Review, there should be a case study on how to make every wrong decisions.

If you know nothing of Hans' past, present, and future ( 2030 Agenda ), now would be a good time to catch up on the story. Don't look to your usual sources. Look to DOJ SEC documents regarding Ericsson. If you can read the Swedish language (or translate) look to news articles there. Look at archived years in the past. You might not get the whole story all at once, you'll have to dig. Even into Hans before he was brought into this world. Follow the rabbits.

Verizon may have a master plan but us employees are not a part of it.

In the early 2000's there were massive riffs every 90 days and that was the beginning of "do more with less" ....

Verizon's best days can be viewed in the rearview mirror.

What you're seeing is called the Writing On The Wall. Take heed and work on your plan B.

The board of directors really engaged in ignorance and malpractice when they hired failed Ericsson accounting engineer extraordinaire Hans the mans and his failed scifi 5G. To think that the board let this nincompoop talk them out of their fiber investment for a technology that does not work as sold.

Doing yardwork is a second job huh? Verizon could solve this easily by making everyone sign a non-compete agreement. Many employers make employees sign this.

Called a downward spiral - like Kodak, Sears, General Motors, etc. There simply are no real growth opportunities for VZ. "Engineer" Hans bet big on 5G and where is that? TMO has much better marketing at every level. Even VZ's graphics look very dated.

Master plan is to layoff as much internal folks as possible by years-end and replace with outsourcing is my guess based on what I see within the company. You have internal trainers with 0 new hire classes and SPC ramping as usual. I think internal everything is on the chopping block, and even some of us that assist in spc directly... we are all expendable and each having a VZ expiration date.
